Honor Beloved Teacher, Bethany "Sage" Moreno
Sage Moreno Language Arts Award

Members of the Columbus Torah Academy community are invited to make a donation in memory of beloved teacher, Bethany "Sage" Moreno, who passed away in February after a tragic car accident.

Funds will be used to endow the  Sage Moreno Language Arts Award, one of 11 awards, known as the Commendation Cups, recognizing the achievements of Upper School students in 11 different disciplines at the end of each school year at an Awards ceremony.

The Commendation Cups, a CTA tradition since 2005, are endowed awards that are being renewed and/or renamed this year. They will be presented at the Upper School Awards Assembly on  Wednesday, June 3 at 7:30 pm at CTA.

The Sage Moreno Language Arts Award will be given to a student who displays extraordinary aptitude in the various subjects of Language Arts, has a mastery in creative writing or literary analysis, manifests an appreciation for literature and the literary arts and has shown leadership in promoting awareness for writing and literature.

Mrs. Moreno, an English and Social Studies teacher in the Upper School came to CTA in 2009 when she was known as Miss Thompson. She quickly became the favorite teacher and mentor to many CTA students.  Her smile, creativity and gentle demeanor encouraged students to express themselves through the written word and gain an appreciation for literature. Mrs. Moreno coordinated and later directed the 7th grade Shakespeare production. Every current student in the Upper School remembers her smiling supportive role behind the scenes.  The Language Arts Award will be a remembrance of her impact on CTA.

Tax deductible gifts to support the Sage Moreno Language Arts Award can be made online by clicking the link below or by sending a check to Columbus Torah Academy, 181 Noe Bixby Road, Columbus, Ohio 43209.  All donations will go to strengthen the Language Arts curriculum.
