May Maintenance Guidelines

After years of working in the industry and building a nursery business around Oklahoma's inclement weather, we are suggesting the following maintenance guidelines:

* Plant your (B & B) Ball & Burlap trees.

* Great time for new planting of shrubs and perennials.

* Set out your annual bedding plants for summer color.

* Fertilize cool-season lawns with Marcum's 18-6-12 if you did NOT fertilize in March and April.

*  Apply Hi-Yield's Grub Free Zone II to control mole crickets.

* Apply Marcum's Cedar Mulch to aid your plants in moisture control as summer is quickly approaching.

Chump's Chatter

What's causing the small finger-width tunnels of dirt throughout my Bermuda grass lawn?

Why does my lawn have uprooted clumps of grass with patchy areas that are turning brown?

Why does the soil in my yard have a slight "give" or a spongy feel underfoot?

Dahlia's Answers: You may have mole crickets.  Mole crickets eat the roots of your Bermuda grass tunneling 10 - 20 feet through the night.

Dahlia's Dirt!

Mole Crickets: What Is The Recommended Treatment?

Have you started seeing small mounds of soil scattered throughout your lawn? Do you feel a slight "give" or a spongy feel underfoot as you walk on your lawn?

If you've answered yes to these questions, you may have mole crickets. It's easy to confuse lawn predators as many have similar destructive characteristics, but one thing's for sure, if mole crickets
go untreated, they can destroy our yards.

In Oklahoma, Bermuda grass is the most popular grass for residential lawns. It's also the mole cricket's favorite place to feast. But be aware, once they wreak havoc to your yard, the roots of other vegetation

become fair game! Mole Crickets...
