2015 Hope Child, Alyssa, will lace up her sneakers on September 12th to participate in our Walk of Love Cross Country 5K & Fun Walk!
Alyssa has endured many challenges, but has never let them get in the way of her dreams. In fact, this young lady has gone from hardly being able to walk at all, to walking a full mile! Read her incredible story.

Tips for Adoptive Parent at Beginning of School Year
Every year right about this time, children everywhere are going back to school. The lines at Walmart are long and shopping carts are full of brand new boxes of crayons and brightly colored spiral bound notebooks. As thoughts turn to school, parents of adopted kids often wonder if they need to do anything extra to make sure their child has a smooth school year.
The Chinese Christian school movement doesn't officially exist, and parents make great sacrifices to join it - but it's growing quickly. June Cheng reports from China for

Ivy, Cooper & Sienna are listed with MAA through an orphanage partnership.
Precious 8 year old Ivy came into care at the age of six. She is diagnosed as having cerebral palsy (CP). When she came into care, she was silent and couldn't walk without help. She adapted well and made friends with the other children quickly. She would talk to the caretaker who was close to her. She grew happier and happier over time, as she adapted to life in the orphanage. Ivy can now use a spoon and pen very well. She always tries to talk to those she is close to and greets the caretakers she knows. Ivy is currently studying in a 2nd grade special education classroom at the orphanage. She can read some simple poems and sing children's songs. She can count and recognize some simple pictures with animals and plants. Ivy can read some simple characters and numbers. She communicates with people in Mandarin. Ivy can express herself clearly and she can understand others well. She loves to participate in the games and educational activities.Ivy is a gentle and quiet girl who gets along well with the other children in her class. She is not afraid to express her thoughts, wishes, and needs to familiar caretakers. Ivy is described as lovely and adorable. She creates a strong relationship with people around her. Ivy has been receiving rehabilitation therapy and her motor skills have improved significantly. She can sit alone and stand holding onto the handrails. Ivy would do very well in a family that could provide her with the therapies she needs to grow stronger!
There is a $2,000 agency grant for Ivy's adoption with MAA.
Sweet 8 year old Cooper is newly listed with Madison Adoption Associates via an orphanage partnership. Cooper is listed as having cerebral palsy (CP) and mental delay, though he has a normal CT in his file. It seems they labeled him with mental delays based on a test. Poor Cooper was found at almost 4 years of age. He gradually adjusted to his new environment and he got along well with the other children. He was able to walk on flat ground. At the age of 5, he could go up and down stairs by holding onto the rail. He liked picking out his favorite toys and was good at sharing his toys and food with others. Cooper has been receiving therapy for his CP since he came into care and he started attending school in the special education classroom at the orphanage at the age of 6. His self care ability has improved. He can put on and take off his own clothes and shoes. Cooper can walk and run and he enjoys playing simple games with his peers. He understands instructions, but is delayed when it comes to speaking. He can speak simple words and uses body language to help him express his needs. His speech is likely affected by the CP and that is also likely why he was labeled as having mental delays. Cooper is described as active, cheerful, and shy. He likes acquaintances to get close to him and he can get along well with others. He will smile if you comfort him or tell him stories. With the love of a family of his own and regular therapies, Cooper will thrive! Please help us find a family for Cooper!

Beautiful 8 year old Sienna is newly listed with Madison Adoption Associates via an orphanage partnership. Sienna is diagnosed with cerebral palsy (CP). Sienna started receiving schooling in the orphanage when she was 7 years old and her self confidence grew, though her language expression was still delayed. A teacher worked with her specifically on these skills and now her comprehension ability is acceptable and her expressive language skills have improved significantly. When she is happy, she sings some songs. She can count to ten and name objects. She can eat independently, but she sometimes struggles with her fine motor skills. Her gross motor skills have improved and she can now crawl and sit independently, but she cannot stand or walk independently. Sienna is described as adorable and open minded. She has a warm heart and loves to smile! Sienna loves to cuddle and listen to soft music. She gets very happy every time she goes to music class. Her caretakers and MAA staff both hope to find a happy and loving forever family for Sienna!
