HART WEEKLY eBLAST  | AUGUST 20, 2015

THE SCHOOL JAM IS COMING
Traffic Shot

It's that time of year again.

Next week, more than 52,000 college and private school students will be heading back to classes.

Motorists are advised to adjust their commute times to avoid peak travel periods and to drive with extra caution as children will be walking or biking to school.

Soon, rail transit will be an option for getting to and from many campuses on Oahu.

The rail line will serve several colleges when the 20-mile alignment opens. They include four UH system campuses: University of Hawaii-West Oahu in Kapolei, Leeward Community College in Waipahu, Honolulu Community College in Kalihi-Palama, and the University's John A. Burns School of Medicine in Kakaako, as well as Hawaii Pacific University in downtown Honolulu.

UH-Manoa students will be able to ride eastbound trains to the Ala Moana Center station to make connections with TheBus, and possibly shuttle services to campus.

For many students, rail transit will provide a reliable, fast, affordable and convenient way to get to and from school---a great way to avoid congestion and beat the school jam.

HART BOARD TO MEET

HART's Board of Directors has meetings scheduled for next week.

There'll be a joint meeting of the Board's Finance and Project Oversight Committees, which is set to begin at 9:30 a.m.

The meetings will take place Thursday, August 27 at HART's offices at Alii Place, 1099 Alakea Street downtown.

The meetings will be held in Suite 150.  The entrance is on the Richards Street side of the building.
