AUGUST 2015

A Message from Dave Arnold, club President

It looks like we are going to have a great ski and boarding season this fall and winter. Can you believe it we had snow falling at Mammoth on the 10th of July and on the 29th it snowed in Montana and Wyoming. It is a little late but Woolly's and Bucky's snow dances are starting to work. The best way I know to celebrate this is to call your trip leaders and signup for our upcoming ski trips.

This year we are running four trips to Mammoth Mountain and have one fly away trip to Copper Mountain. The first three trips to Mammoth will be on the Far West Racing Associations race weekends, which is our standard practice. So right out of the gates after Christmas and New Year's we will head to the slopes on Jan. 7th to the 10th. Then we will give you a little time to rest and get ready for our trip on Feb. 18th to the 21st. Two weeks later we will head out to Mammoth on the 3rd of March to the 6th. Our last trip will depart on the 24th of March and return on the 28th.

I know that everyone knows that the Mammoth trips are a great price, but let's look at what you get for $315 dollars. You get bus transportation to Mammoth, unlike the airlines we will supply you with an in-drive meal and movies and forget the one drink rule, we supply you with a cooler of beer, wine, and soft drinks. When was the last time you had that kind of service on an airplane. Once at Mammoth we set you up in a nice condo with your friends and a few new people so you can make more friends. In the morning you usually get coffee, orange juice and a continental breakfast. After your great day on the slopes, we head over to the indoor pool, Jacuzzi, and sauna and just in case you get thirsty we bring a small cooler of beverages. Dinners are included, we have meals for you in your condo, sometimes on Friday nights we have a community dinner. On the way home we provide a cooler of drinks again and of course we show movies. So you only need to supply your lift tickets, lunches and meal of the way home. We only ask you for a little help with supplying the fun for the weekend. Now that you are in the mood to ski, board or just play in the snow, go to our web-page www.nisnowdrifter.com and sign up for the trips you want to go on and call your friendly trip leader to signup.

I hope to see everyone on Aug. 14 for the clubs general meeting. We are returning to Scripps Ranch Community Park located at 11454 Blue Cypress Drive San Diego, CA 92131. Our meeting will start at 6:00 PM. We will supply the drinks and hot dogs. So bring a dish to share and have a great time talking to your friends.

Till next month I will let you get back to having some fun. Remember that you are the heart and soul of this club so please stay safe this summer in your adventures.
