Deadline to swap your old iBox is Friday, May 8!
  
The deadline for swapping old boxes for new ones is this Friday, May 8th.  The only boxes that can be swapped are those covered under the Supra contract with the MLS of ACTIVE agents whose boxes were in the agent's Supra inventory prior to the keybox exchange. 

Make an appointment with your local Supra CSR, Ashley Hickman. Appointments are available from 9a - 3:30pm.

On May 9th, the iBox BT LE will be available for sale at the CMR/MLS Board Office for $105 plus tax.

Free Upgrade to eKey until June 28.
The $50 activation fee will be waived and there will no longer be any monthly charges.  Bring in your DisplayKey and cradle for your free upgrade.  If you paid a deposit you will be reimbursed. eKey Update: 976 members have upgraded so far!!

More Wire Fraud Scams
We were recently m ade aware of two wire fraud scams making rounds again. The first scam instructs the buyer to wire the purchase proceeds to an account, which is later learned to be fraudulent.   Here is a scenario that could happen:

 

A title company closing the transaction emails the sales associate with new wire instructions for the buyer. The buyer doesn't suspect anything unusual and send the funds straight to the hacker's account.

  

The second fraud involves a foreign buyer who is relocating to your area. This buyer is specific about his family's needs and wishes. The agent researches his name and the information checks out. The buyer proceeds on to provide the name of his financial advisor in New York and asks you for a referral to a local attorney.  Read more here. 
How to Protect Your Client from Wire Fraud Scam
Take measures to protect your company and your clients. The following are some recommended best practices related to bank wire transfers:

 

      * ALWAYS PERSONALLY VERIFY wire instructions by calling the party who sent the instructions.  

      * VERBALLY ASK the party who sent the instructions to confirm the ABA routing number or SWIFT code and the credit account number.

      * DO NOT AGREE to requests to forward wire instructions to other parties (or their brokers) unless you have personally verbally confirmed the instructions.

      * BE VERY SUSPICIOUS of emails with purportedly updated, revised, or corrected wiring instructions. Read more here.


 
Exempted Listings
Office Exclusives (MLS Rule 1.4)
MLS Participants agree to share their listings with other Participants within 24 hours of having the signed listing agreement.  In most cases cooperation is in the best interest of seller.  MLS Rule 1.4 reads:  "If a seller refuses to permit the listing to be disseminated by the Service, the Member may then take the listing and such listing shall be filed with the Service as an "office exclusive" but not disseminated to other Participants. Filing of the listing should be accompanied by certification signed by the seller that he does not desire the listing to be disseminated by the Service."  

 

If you have a signed listing agreement but it's not in the seller's best interest for the property to be shown by cooperating brokers yet, that's an "office exclusive" listing and should be reported to the MLS as such.  Simply fax (601-355-8707) or email Sallie Plumpp the listing agreement signed by the seller indicating the property is an office exclusive listing and not to be shared with other Participants.  As a courtesy to other Participants who see the yard sign but can't locate the property in MLS an Exclusive name rider should be installed on the yard sign.  Those riders are available in the Board store.
