Jackson, MS (February 4, 2015)--Central Mississippi REALTORS participated in REALTOR Day at the Capitol hosted by the MS Assoc. of REALTORS to address key policy issues on the 2015 Legislative Agenda that could impact real estate and homeownership throughout the State.

Governor Phil Bryant and Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves were both in attendance for REALTOR Day. Topics on the agenda included support for legislation to eliminate the 5 percent tax on gross proceeds realized by an out-of-state seller to an in-state buyer.

REALTORS are also in support of legislation for the establishment of a first-time home buyer savings account program that would be used solely for monies towards down payment and closing costs. If passed, this legislation could make homeownership more attractive for first-time buyers who have steadily declined over the past three decades. Other real estate specific issues to be addressed during the 2015 Legislative Session include Property Insurance Clarity Act, MS Main Street Investment Act and Patent Troll Legislation.  Click here for additional photos available at the CMR Facebook Page.
