Dear Friends and Neighbors,

The 2015 legislative session is under way and I need your support right NOW!

GUNS Laws

On Monday, February 2nd the House State, Veterans and Military Affairs Committee will consider five Guns House bills that would repeal our background checks law, get rid of limits on high-capacity magazines (like the one used in the Aurora movie theater shooting) and repeal all safety training requirements for people who carry concealed weapons in public. These bills would send Colorado backwards!

Take a Stand for a Safer Colorado: Join me this Monday at the state capitol for hearings at 1:30 p.m. in Room 271. Your attendance and testimony is important. What's at stake:

  • HB15- 1009  Repeal the 2013 ban on high capacity magazines
  • HB15- 1049  Stand Your Ground: The use of deadly force in a business location
  • HB15- 1050  Repeal 2013 background checks for private sales/return costs
  • HB15- 1086  Speed certificates for transfer of machine guns ... taking too long
  • HB15- 1127  No liability for businesses that allow concealed weapons

Let's stand up for Colorado's common sense gun laws.

  • Colorado's Standards and Assessments

Testing in Colorado isn't working. We need to seek smart ways to cut the amount of time spent preparing for and administering test. So this year we plan to make progress on how we integrate assessments within the larger framework of education and make sure we are empowering good teachers and graduating capable students.
