TSPN is proud to announce our forthcoming Suicide Prevention Symposium, set for Tuesday, July 28, and Wednesday, July 29, at Trevecca Community Church, located at 335 Murfreesboro Pike in Nashville, ZIP 37210. The theme of our current symposium is "TSPN Leading the Way: Advocacy, Connection, Education".

The event will begin on the evening of the 28th with a catered dinner and a screening of the documentary "Of Two Minds", which explores the struggles and successes of living with bipolar disorder. A discussion with Lisa Klein, co-director/writer/producer of the film, will follow.

Klein will also provide details about her newest project, "The S-Word", during the main part of the symposium on the day of the 29th. This portion of the event will also feature a panel of survivors of suicide attempts who will discuss the lived experience concept-the contribution of insights from people who have experience suicide attempts and/or ideation to the national suicide prevention movement.

The 29th will also offer an informational session on Tennessee's Zero Suicide Initiative, perhaps the most ambitious project of the Network to date. TSPN and its Zero Suicide Initiative Task Force are working with behavioral health treatment centers across the state to eliminate suicides and suicide attempts within their client base through an aggressive yet achievable action plan incorporating best-practice prevention and intervention strategies. Several of our symposium's breakout sessions are related to aspects of the Zero Suicide Initiative, such as safety planning and lethal means reduction.

Our Eventbrite portal for this event (http://tspn15.eventbrite.com) includes a full listing of breakout sessions and agenda items. Registration for the symposium automatically grants you admission to the dinner the night before... although you have the option of registering for the dinner or the symposium only. A paper version of the registration form is available for those who wish to pay by check.

We are also seeking sponsors for this event; you may consult the event sponsorship form (http://tspn.org/wp-content/uploads/TSPN15-SPONSORSHIP.pdf) for the benefits associated with supporting this event.

We look forward to having you join us in Nashville this July for an event which will inspire you, educate you, and equip you with the knowledge you need to prevent suicide within your communities. In the meantime, we would appreciate you spreading the word about this event to your personal and professional contacts.
