Campbell Promoted at Chamber

Linda Hershey, President & CEO, has announced that Laura Campbell has been promoted to Office Manager. Laura is responsible for the financial and office functions of the Chamber as well as the weekly newsletter and email advertising. She is a recent graduate of the Leadership Greater Augusta (LGA) Program. Laura is a graduate of Riverheads High School and attended Blue Ridge Community College. She is married to husband, Ashley and has 
two sons, Brett and Wyatt.

 Leadership Greater Augusta Program  

September 10, 2015 - May 12, 2016

 

Leadership Greater Augusta (LGA) is a nine-month interactive, informative program designed to strengthen individuals for personal, organizational, and community leadership presented by the Greater Augusta Regional Chamber of Commerce.  A full-day opening retreat launches the program in September, followed by a volunteer service opportunity, followed by eight monthly sessions.  A graduation celebration is held in May. LGA offers existing and emerging leaders opportunities for skill building and leadership development.  The program includes a comprehensive examination of the Greater Augusta region, and encourages participants to apply their leadership skills through community-oriented group projects. Participants work another 50 hours or so on group projects (with optional team meetings after monthly sessions).

New Division Office Located in Harrisonburg
Admiral Security Services created a new Division headquarters in Harrisonburg, VA to service the entire Blue Ridge Division from Martinsburg, WV to the VA/NC State line. The new division is headed up by Rick Thornton, Director of Operations- Blue Ridge Division and includes Regional Offices in Winchester and Lynchburg. Rick is supported by Charles Carey, Senior Regional Manager in Lynchburg and Jonathan Massey, Regional Manager in Harrisonburg/Winchester and currently has staff of more than 200 security officers servicing more than 60 businesses.


Underage Drinking Prevention Campaign Launched
The Greater Augusta Prevention Partners, funded in part buy the  Office on Youth , unveiled a comprehensive underage drinking prevention campaign on Friday. Let's be the Influence is a campaign targeted at parents reinforcing that children of all ages report that parents are the leading influence in their decision not to drink alcohol. The campaign will run throughout the month of August and includes TV and radio commercials, billboards, online ads, social media, theater and other advertising to reach parents in Waynesboro, Staunton and Augusta County. GAPP will also set up at many local events throughout the month to promote the campaign and raise awareness. Upcoming events include National Night Out, the Augusta County Fair, movie night at Gypsy Hill Park and more. The coalition will also host a Town Hall meeting on Aug 20 from 6-8 pm at Wilson Middle School in Fishersville. The town hall meeting is a way to bring the community together around the issue of underage drinking. Learn more on the initiative, upcoming events and the Town Hall meeting  online.
