DUNCAN PARK TRAIL SYSTEM AND VIDEO RELEASED
Tourism Agency Produces Seventh Trail Guide
Outdoor recreation in Spartanburg County is highlighted in two new promotions
targeting hikers and mountain bikers
The Spartanburg Convention & Visitors Bureau (SCVB) partnered with More View Media
to produce a trail map that features eight trails near historic Duncan Park Stadium,
and Duncan Park Lake in the City of Spartanburg.
"This is another fun location showcasing our outdoor recreation opportunities in Spartanburg County," said Chris Jennings, director of the SCVB. "Visitors who want to hike,
run or bike have another oasis just minutes from downtown Spartanburg, and we want to
show we are an active, bike-friendly community."
The Hub City Trail System at Duncan Park offers over five miles of trails for beginners,
families and advanced riders. The pocket-sized trail map is color coded to show the various uses
of trails, as well as distance of each trail. It is the seventh map in a series of cycling guides
produced by the SCVB and its partners.
The tourism agency also produced a three-minute video to show travelers about the
mountain biking trails in the middle of the city of Spartanburg. Jennings cited the work of
many partners, led by local bike shop owner Eric Turner of Bike Worx, who built many of the trails beginning in 2010, as well as volunteer efforts from the Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association (SORBA) and Benchmark Trails. Hot-Eye Photography provided the cover photo on the map.
Financial and other support for the Hub City Trail System at Duncan Park was provided by Partners for Active Living, The Mary Black Foundation, the City of Spartanburg, United Rentals and Fincher Photography. Link to video: http://vimeo.com/109949858
