Lodge Recognitions
Did you know that there are several awards that Arrowman can earn? Awards are presented by the lodge at the annual banquet in January.

Arrowman Achievement Award
Dabney Kennedy,  former Colonneh Lodge adviser, created the Arrowman Achievement Award to recognize those youth Arrowmen who do service to the lodge and chapter. The requirements for this award include attendance at chapter meetings and being part of ceremonial teams.  Applications  are due December 31, 2015.

Clan Sashes

Applications for clan sashes are due December 31, 2015.

Service clan sash:  The service  clan sash requires that an Arrowman do a number of hours
of service in his chapter, for his council, and for council camps. Service comes in a variety of forms, and a member of the service  clan should exemplify a spirit or service. The service
clan sash is a white arrow imposed on a green background.

Elangomat clan sash: Serving as a guide to a new member of the Order of the Arrow is one of the most important services an Arrowman can perform, and the Elangomat clan recognizes those who have done this at least three times. In addition, a member of the Elangomat clan has guided at least 50% of the candidates he is assigned through the ordeal, and through sealing their membership in the Brotherhood. They have also served on staff for an ordeal. The Elagomat clan sash is a white arrow imposed on a blue background.

Ceremony clan sash:   The ceremony clan recognizes those Arrowmen who provide service to their chapters and to the lodge, by serving in the lodge's ceremonies year-round. To become a member of the ceremony clan, an Arrowman must participate in each primary ceremony in the Order or the Arrow - Arrow of Light, pre-ordeal, ordeal, and brotherhood. The service  clan  sash is a white arrow imposed on a black background.

Dance clan sash:   Our continuation of the spirit of our Native American heritage is an important element underlying the spirit of the Order of the Arrow, and the dance clan sash recognizes those individuals who have supported the Native American events program in Colonneh Lodge. Whether in traditional Native American dancing or in singing, these individuals have grown in their knowledge of the Native American culture. The service  clan  sash is a white arrow imposed on a red background.

Camp promotions clan sash:    When founding the Order, Dr. Goodman saw the promotion of summer camp and camping as an important objective for the Order and for lodges. The camp promotions clan sash recognizes those individuals who have done camp promotion visits to local units, as well as creating a working display for camping promotions in their district. The service  clan  sash is a white arrow imposed on a blue background.

Unit Award of Excellence

Th e Order of the Arrow Unit of Excellence Award seeks to identify those units, and the leaders within them, who excel at incorporating the OA into their annual planning. This award is intended to provide a tool for lodges to recognize, incentivize, and operationalize unit-level participation in Order of the Arrow programs. Apply

The OA Unit of Excellence Award criteria recognize units that invite the lodge to conduct quality unit elections, participate in lodge events and  meetings, and operate a complete OA Troop/Team Representative program. Our hope is that units that complete these criteria will benefit from the support programs that the Order of the Arrow has implemented to strengthen  unit-delivered program. This recognition program, along with other tools for unit support, should be distributed and promoted to Scoutmaster/Coach, OA Troop/Team Representatives and Advisers, and chapter election teams to include in communication to units.

Lodge Dues
Did you know that you cannot wear your OA lodge flap and sash or attend lodge functions if your dues are not current?

Your OA dues contribute to lodge and your chapter activities such as the regalia we use for ceremonies, Arrowman Bash, Fall Pow Wow, community service projects, council camp support, youth recognition, and many other activities which the lodge and your chapter are involved.

Make sure you pay your dues each year to help support Scouting in the Sam Houston Area Council and recognize those worthy of joining Scouting's National Honor Society. Annual dues are only $15.

You do not have pay back dues, just pay the current year to get current. For questions regarding dues status or pocket flap orders, contact  admin.adviser@colonneh.org. Pay your dues at  oa.shac.org/dues.

Got Your Bars?
Have you been in the OA for more than 10 months?

Did you know that you are not a full member of the Order of the Arrow (OA) until you complete Brotherhood?  Brotherhood membership is easy to obtain.

After 10 months as an Ordeal member, all you need to do is participate in a "Brotherhood walk" that reviews the OA traditions, purpose and meaning, as laid out in the Ordeal ceremony. Following the Brotherhood walk, you will attend an inspirational and meaningful Brotherhood ceremony that marks the completion of your induction into the Order of the Arrow.

You do not need to go through another Ordeal to become a Brotherhood member. Plus, it's FREE if you are current on your dues! So do not delay, obtain your bars today! Arrowman are encouraged to visit the  Jumpstart website.

Find the 2015 Brotherhood opportunities at  oa.shac.org/brotherhood.

Arrowman Service Award

Registered OA members in good standing with the BSA, SHAC and Colonneh Lodge will be able to commemorate our organization's centennial by working to complete the Arrowman Service Award. This award, which some are referring to as "the sash patch," will be recognized as one of the few patches that have ever been approved by the national Order of the Arrow committee to be worn on an OA sash.

The purpose of the Arrowman Service Award (ASA) is to encourage Arrowmen to recommit themselves to the ideals of the Order, increase their level of service to their local unit and council, and participate in the 100th anniversary celebration of the OA. The award will have three categories of criteria with various requirements that Arrowmen can complete. These include components on personal growth, service to Scouting, and participation in the centennial celebration.  Arrowman can work on the requirements until December 31, 2015. Apply for the Arrowman Service Award.

Attend Arrowman Bash to meet one of the requirements for the ASA. A list of the requirements can be found at oa.shac.org#asa.

Save the Date!
Award Nominations
Due November 16, 2015

Every  year Colonneh Lodge presents several recognitions to youth and adult Arrowmen. Anyone can submit a  nomination . Only youth  serve on the awards selection committee. Awards are presented at the annual  Colonneh Lodge banquet .

A lodge as large as Colonneh Lodge inherently contains individuals who provide extreme amounts of service - to Scouting, to their chapter, to the lodge - without ever seeking recognition of any kind. The makeup of Colonneh Lodge is one of outstanding leadership through individuals, and steadfast resolve to the continuation of the delivery of great program to the youth of the Order of the Arrow (OA) and of Scouting.

T he Colonneh Lodge Numbered Certificate, the Order of the Arrow's Founder's Award, and the James E. West Fellowship are in place to recognize the highest degree of service to the Order of the Arrow. The recipients of these awards exemplify what it means to be a Scout or Scouter, an Arrowmen, and a member of Colonneh Lodge. These awards seek to recognize those individual lodge members who, time-in and time-out, are  there helping make the program happen, without expecting anything in the form of recognition in return.

OA Banquet
January 16, 2016

Arrowmen gather for a night of celebration at the annual Colonneh Lodge OA banquet each January. Together, Arrowmen share appreciation for the outgoing officers, recognize the Chapter of the Year, bestow awards on outstanding Arrowmen and celebrate the past year's accomplishments. oa.shac.org/banquet
