Catch the Spirit!

Be sure to review the many volunteer opportunities available to you as a parent or guardian in our RE program.
You can also purchase '1st UU' T-Shirts to benefit the Youth Religious Education program when you register on-line for the 2015-2016 RE Season!
OWL
As the Ohio Meadville District melds it's support and practices with the Central East Regional Group, how we recruit and train our OWL facilitators has changed right along with that. Volunteer train-ees interested in OWL now cover broader terrain in order to attend a training.  Some regional congregations do not even have the resources to offer Senior High OWL.  These factors lead the local professional religious educators to consider how we could offer OWL in our congregations where a greater benefit could be had by many.

One idea that has been voraciously pursued during the majority of this current church year is one of combining multi-church Senior High Programs into one entire OWL event. This event would be offered in a format similar to a District CON.  Sadly, with so many elements of minutiae to be sorted out, we were unable to make our dream a reality this year.  I want to thank you all, parents, teachers, and facilitators, as we tried to find a way to bring this goal to fruition.

Because we are changing direction mid-stride, OWL for our congregation will still be offered in a succinct format but the content will just be a rich, comprehensive, diverse, engaging, and full.  I am actively working with the trained OWL facilitators we have on site to offer Senior High OWL in May in this succinct format.  As soon as we have a date, that date will be published immediately and widely.

As always, you may direct all comments and questions to Bethany Ward, DRE, at [email protected]

Sweet Home First UU

A LETTER FROM THE STEWARDSHIP CO-CHAIRS

Our Sweet Home, First UU stewardship campaign is nearly complete! There have been connections made and strengthened, ideas and information shared and financial support given. However, the fat lady has not yet sung: we are still awaiting pledge commitments from a number of members and friends.

If you have not yet scheduled a meeting with your volunteer contact, or if you have already met, please confirm your commitment by submitting a pledge. You may do this on the website, http://www.firstunitariancleveland.org/index.html. There is a clearly-marked button in the lower right-hand corner of the home page and no confidential information is required. If you prefer, you may fill out a pledge card and drop it in the mail or give it directly to Doug Aubin. Pledge cards are available in Kathie Kitchingham's office if you have not received yours.

Thank you to all who have already pledged and those of you who are about to do so! Our Board of Trustees depends upon your confirmed pledges to craft our annual budget, which must be shared with the congregation in advance of our annual meeting, so time is of the essence.

See you in church!
