News & Notes

In our business nearly everything we do revolves around a schedule.  When will the plans be drawn up?  What's the first step after they break ground? What date will the floor be ready for carpet installation?  Naturally, although the calendar reads February, we are looking ahead to key events that our clients are already preparing for.  Parties at home are the big one; it takes a village to throw an at home event - a wedding or graduation has taken a lifetime to prepare for now it's time to party!

Check out the freshest ideas from our designers; whether your thinking about re-doing, remodeling or refreshing!

We are so excited about 2015 and have had a strong start to the year with an award winning trip for Mingle to Las Vegas for KBIS, the National Kitchen and Bath Show. Both Mingle and Studio M interiors were named Best of Houzz. We have also added several key people to our team to maintain our promise of exceeding your expectations each time you visit.

Hope to see you soon!

Meet

Elizabeth Ericksen
Kitchen & Bath Designer

Elizabeth brings 12 years of cabinet and kitchen design experience to Mingle. With an Interior Design degree from the University of Minnesota at Mankato she began her career designing kitchens and interiors for high-end homes in Colorado's Broadmoor area. This experience ignited her passion for kitchen design and deepened her appreciation for the beauty of wood species and finishes.

After several years of designing for remodelers and builders, Elizabeth accepted a design position at DuraSupreme Cabinetry, where she worked with clients across the United States. Now at Mingle, her design expertise and creativity are clearly evident in the beautiful spaces she's developed for Mingle's Plymouth showroom.

Elizabeth believes that great design should be both beautiful and functional. Committed to a collaborative design process, she enjoys guiding her clients through the many design options and cabinet layouts as she transforms their dreams into a reality.

Her designs have been published in Kitchen & Bath Design News and Midwest Home Magazine, and featured in homes on the Remodeler's Showcase, the Parade of Homes, and the Luxury Home Tour.

Pictured above with her newest love - Lena.  Congratulations!

The Loveseat - a Valentines Day History Lesson

Loveseats have been in production since the early 1800s in the US. These early designs were not intended to aid courtship between two people, as is more generally thought today, but rather to provide a seat that would accommodate the large dresses worn by the ladies of the period.

Congrats to Mingle for winning the 2015 Innovative Showroom Award for large independent retail showrooms at the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (KBIS) in Las Vegas.

General Manager Kelly Davert accepted the award for Mingle and also participated in a lively panel discussion on innovation in kitchen and bath showrooms. Thank you, Kelly, and all the fantastic Mingle employees for making this happen!

GRADUATION PARTY!

"It takes courage to grow up and become who you truly are" -e.e. cummings

Believe it or not, graduation is just around the corner!  After all of their hard work, your graduate deserves a fabulous send off!   Here are a few tips from some of our designers:

Lighten up This is a great time to replace a chandelier or add additional lamps.
Every room need a variety of lighting; background, ambient or accent lighting.  To highlight special features, cast a lovely glow or just adding sparkle can instantly improve the atmosphere. Nothing makes a room feel more dated and less welcoming than bad lighting.

Time to Reflect  Adding mirrors to unexpected surfaces ( like a backsplash or cabinet doors) helps reflect more natural light and creates the illusion of a bigger space-which is always a good thing.

Raise the Bar A most welcoming site is a well -stocked bar! Add a bar cart or even a new sideboard or server which can double as a dessert station.

Freshen Up your kitchen or bathroom with a new backsplash or new countertop and hardware.  Take a cue from this Alessandra Branca-  designed Caribbean kitchen and go all out with statement-making tile. With endless styles to choose from at a wide range of price points, your kitchen is bound to feel tailored to your personal style. -

Pull up a Chair!

Reupholster or replace chairs or uncomfortable bar stools with new upholstery, the newest fabrics are beautiful, durable and many are available for indoor/outdoor use.  For a super quick fix - try new pillows and cushions!
