Agenda Set for State GAC, Big Names Added to the Line-up

The Louisiana Credit Union League's 2015 State Governmental Affairs Conference is fast-approaching. Scheduled for May 12-13 in Baton Rouge, the state GAC will provide Louisiana credit union advocates with a chance to discuss priority legislative issues with state lawmakers.

Some of the big names added to the schedule include Jeff Rendel, nationally acclaimed speaker, and Ryan Donovan, CUNA's Chief Advocacy Officer. Jay Dardenne, current Lt. Governor and 2015 State Governor candidate, will also host a general session titled 'This is Louisiana'. State and National updates will also be provided by LOFI and Adams & Reese.

How can we top this year's line-up? By hosting our 2nd Annual Seafood Extravaganza at the Barracks, just steps away from the State Capitol. During this networking event, you can mix and mingle with your credit union peers, elected officials and members of their staffs.

For general questions on the state GAC, contact Angela Gervais, Director of Governmental Affairs.
LCUL and LAMBDC Hosting Marketing & BD Webinar...and YOU Pick the Topic!

Mark your calendars! On Wednesday, May 6 at 11:00 a.m., Michael Tasner, marketing guru, avid entrepreneur, author, speaker, and investor, will shake things up by hosting a webinar where YOU determine the topic. Yep, that's right. Those registering for this webinar can vote on which session looks most appealing (with the most favorable being selected). So what are the options?

Putting Your Credit Union on Autopilot: Time and resources are limited. As a credit union you are always trying to do more with less. Often, trying new forms of marketing becomes an afterthought because you are simply aiming to keep your head above water. It's time to work smarter, not harder on the marketing at your credit union, leveraging the power of software, automation, funnels and little known tips, secrets and tactics.

15 Slam-Dunk Tactics To Grow Your Membership: Reflect back for a minute: how many times in the last six months have you sat around a table and said (or heard) "what are we going to do to grow membership" only to walk away either confused or with plans to do more of the same. Now is the best time to STOP spinning your wheels and worrying about what "new stuff" you are going to try to generate more members and hoping that it works. Hope marketing will become a thing of the past. 15 laser focused tactics will be presented. Every tactic will be focused on one thing: driving the right members to join your credit union.

Sponsored by LCUL and the Louisiana Marketing & Business Development Council (LAMBDC), this webinar is open to all Louisiana CU professionals. Registration is FREE for LAMBDC members and $50/person for non-council members.

To register, please email Lacey Hyer, VP of Communications & Public Relations, no later than Monday, May 4. Make sure to include your vote!

It's Gut-Check Time for TILA/RESPA Compliance

Now that Spring has almost broken out in much of the country, you have probably noticed all the signs of the coming season; the birds are chirping, spring flowers are struggling to break ground, and everyone is starting to talk about TILA/RESPA.

By now you have probably already read a few articles, taken a look at the model disclosures on the CFPB website, and you may have even attended a webinar or two.   While these activities are a good start, the hard work put in this Spring will determine whether your credit union's TILA/RESPA compliance plan succeeds or fails.  With less than five months to go until the August 1st compliance date, now is the time to make sure your credit union is well positioned to be ready at the end of the summer. Here are a couple of questions that you should ask yourself to determine if your plan is in good shape or needs some additional work this Spring.
