Westland to Cut Ribbon on New Fire Station

(Westland, MI) --- On Monday February 9, 2015, Mayor William Wild and Fire Chief Michael Reddy will cut the ribbon and officially open Westland's new $3 million fire station.

The new Fire Station, located at Central City Parkway, replaces the city's oldest station located on Ford Road near the original city hall; the old station served the City of Westland for over 50 years, predating the city to its Nankin Township origin.

"The new station has a state-of-the-art training room and will cost less to operate due to energy efficient windows, lighting and HVAC system," said Mayor Wild. "The improvements to city buildings allow us to operate more efficiently while also offering an aesthetic look that speaks to the professionalism of the department and the growth of the city."

"Fire stations are strategically located to provide a high-level of response to both fire and EMS emergencies while supporting other fire stations," said Chief Reddy.  "Studies show that the new location will provide greater coverage and reduce response times in primary and secondary response areas."
