2015 Fasching
Fasching at GISC
GISC celebrated Fasching (Mardi Gras/Carnival) on Thursday, February 12. The children dressed up in costumes for the day, and in the late morning, all parents were invited to a Faschingsfest, where students paraded through the gym, played games, and danced. All students also got nut-free Berliner/Krapfen (donuts)!
Conference
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Parents had the chance to check in with GISC teachers about their children's progress during the second parent-teacher conferences of the year on Wednesday, February 18 through Friday, February 20. The final set of conferences will be in May.
Polling Place
GISC Hosts Municipal Election Voters
On Tuesday, February 24, GISC hosted voters from the 47th Ward, 41st Precinct for the Chicago municipal elections. GISC has volunteered to be a polling place for state and federal elections since the school opened. To minimize disruption to the students, GISC often holds field trips on voting days, as was done on the 24th.
Adler Field Trip
Winter Field Trips
On Tuesday, February 24, GISC students got some hands-on experiences during field trips to various locations: the kindergarteners headed to the Shedd Aquarium, while the grade schoolers trekked to the Adler Planetarium.
