On February 13, the last surviving member of the Ruby Creek pack arrived at her new home at Wolf Haven. Captured by Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife because she had become too habituated to domestic dogs, livestock and humans, our sanctuary staff named her Ione after the community where she had been living near a rancher's home.
She is only the second wolf to be transferred from the wild to live in the sanctuary in our 33 year history. Ione (pronounced Eye-own) appears to be setting in with her new companion, wolfdog Luca. We are grateful to the community of Ione and all who have supported this effort to give her another lease on life.
Wolf Haven is pleased to announce the third summer of overnight camping events here. Limited to 20 guests, "A Midsummer's Night" includes dinner, an enrichment wolf sanctuary tour, campfire, prairie walk, and overnight stay in your tent or RV. Gypsy & Diablo are two Mexican wolvesat Wolf Haven
Every year, wildlife organizations and supporters celebrate #LoboWeek to raise awareness for the Mexican gray wolf recovery program. From March 23-29, Wolf Haven joins others by using the LoboWeek hashtag in daily social media posts that highlight this critically endangered animal, a subspecies of the gray wolf. Keep your eye out for @LoboWeek on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other sharing sites during the fourth week of March.
