A new cutting edge Aboriginal e-commerce website provides authentic, original, high quality Aboriginal art, gifts and crafts at competitive prices and is designed to support Aboriginal artisans, particularly those with low-income, to develop a portfolio and reach a global market.

New management means new pricing!!

Over the next few days we'll be re-pricing our favourite products on our website.
Items have been reduced up to 50%.
Make sure you are the first to buy your favourite one of a kind product!
This week we are reducing stone carvings, stained glass, and birch bark biting galleries.

Birch Bark Biting is one of the oldest First Nations art forms.
By separating the soft fine layers of the bark, it is then folded several times,
and bitten with the visuals in one's mind to create. There are more than 10 stages to complete one piece. This process was used to record the history and stories of the people. Great interest of competition for the most elaborate designs formed the
way to document beadworks and silk embroidery patterns. Traditionally,
this art
was practiced by many First Nations across Canada
.

This social enterprise also supports Friendship Centres and other participating Aboriginal businesses, who will receive revenue through sales commissions earned from their direct participation in brokering wholesale product purchases and creating a list of Aboriginal artisans in their region. Friendship Centre capacity building to develop local revenue generating initiatives is an expected outcome of their active participation.

This social initiative is the first of its kind as all of the products are reliant upon a national network of authentic Aboriginal artisans, many from remote locations which are generally inaccessible for commerce. Kitigan has made sales across Canada and continues to make sales internationally.
