Handshakes and Hashbrowns
GCM hosted the Greater Greer Chamber's Handshakes and Hashbrowns event on April Fools Day. We chose to launch our newest Social Media campaign that day with a photo booth for our Instagram page. Local business leaders, like Chris Crist of Owens Insurance, and Mark Owens, president and CEO of the chamber, helped us by hamming it up with props.

Spring Break Ministry
Students took a break from spring break to flip GCM from winter drab to clean and fresh. They did yard work, heavy cleaning, and other needed jobs to help us get ready for the busy spring season. Left, a group from First Christian Fellowship cleaned out flower beds, spread mulch, and washed our bus and van.
Another group from the Taylors First Baptist DNow team raked leaves, pruned trees and bushes, and pulled weeds. Teens from Milford Baptist Church collected nonperishable food for the pantry, then helped sort it and put it away during a visit to the ministry. Thank you for choosing us.

Home Improvement Updates
With three quarters of work in the fiscal books, GCM is happy to report the completion of projects designed to keep the building ready to help us seamlessly serve our clients. Grant money from the Spartanburg Regional Foundation, John I. Smith, and Greenville Women Giving has given us the ability to do the following:
  • Complete upgrades in the kitchen, including new equipment and flooring
  • Install an automated, handicap accessible front door
  • Provide ADA compliant automatic flush toilets in all bathrooms as well as new tile flooring, new counter tops, and automatic faucets
  • New paint in Sharon's Closet, the Food Pantry, and hall storage closet
  • New HVAC system
  • A new attic access door and new insulation
New projects include replacing the soffit on the exterior of the building and resurfacing/striping the parking lot. These should be completed before the next fiscal year begins July 1.

By the Numbers
Your faithful and consistent gifts allowed us to serve hundreds of people and thousands of meals during the past nine months. Here is an update by the numbers:
  • Senior Diner meals: 4,124
  • Meals on Wheels meals: 57,759
  • Food Pantry clients: 3,318
  • Sharon's Closet clients: 2,544
Without you and your monetary and tangible food and clothing gifts, we could not reach so many hurting and needy families in our area. Thank you for partnering with us and we ask for your continued support during the last three fiscal months of our year.

Keep an eye out for our second quarter newsletter in your mailbox. If you don't currently receive our hard copy newsletter, make sure you reply to this email and get on the list. There will be photos from our events and all the latest news about how you can help us throughout the summer months, when donations are typically low.
