High School Workshop Volunteers
All students in 100 and 200 level courses should strongly consider volunteering on for the Week of the Young Child High School Workshops.  This is a great opportunity to see modeled hands-on experiences for all age groups.  We need volunteers to walk around campus with groups of high schoolers. Get a volunteer certificate for your portfolios. For ECE majors, this helps you to visualize what you will have to do in ECE 225 as presenting these workshops is a requirement for that class.

TEACH Advocacy
All ECE 225 is supporting PACCA's (Pennsylvania Child Care Association) letter writing campaign to encourage Governor Wolf to restore public funds for the T.E.A.C.H. Scholarship Program which funds ECE degrees at the associate, bachelor, and master's degree levels.  With the PA program stopping in 2011, many current students have not benefited from the program. Letters from our students about the importance of funding for teacher education will be collected and hand-delivered to the governor by early March.  A table has been set up near the Community Room with information about advocation in ECE and about this campaign to reinstate T.E.A.C.H.  Letters of support can be emailed to:  [email protected].  Let your voice be heard to help support funding for  scholarships for staff to earn college degrees.
