A Message from the Pastor

Dear Disciples of Jesus at American Lutheran,

Good intentions. We all have them. Sometimes we just don't get around to following through on them. When the gap widens between our intention of being a Christian with the way we actually live, the truth comes out: what we believe and what we say is empty apart from what we do.

Jesus tells a parable to help us see that we don't have to stay stuck in our guilt when we say one thing and do another. When we turn from our sin and go in a new direction, we step into the grace of an open-ended future-into life itself.

See you in church,

Pastor Gretchen

Council Highlights
Facility Renovation Committee

A newly formed Facility Renovation Committee (FRC) has been appointed by the Council.  The members include Mark Baker, Mark Burrows, Will Campbell, Jason Shih, and Kirt Stanford. The committee members would like to invite input from the congregation about needs, wants and desires and dreams of what the facility will need as we move forward.

Our goal is to focus on the mission of the congregation now and what might arise in the future.  The committee will then distill the needs for the facility to have an initial report to the October Council meeting.

The committee is available to meet with members about your ideas. Feel free to talk with a FRC member after worship, or set up an appointment to meet during the week.

ELCA Advocacy Postcards
Children's and Seniors' Issues

We still have advocacy postcards available for those who want to support children's and senior's issues. You can complete the postcards with your information, then leave them with the church office for us to mail to members of Congress.

Your voice matters!

Impact
Serve on Sunday and impact lives-including your own!

Research has shown that serving does as much good for the volunteer as it does for the people they are serving!

If you love people, there is a place for you to serve at ALC! We are currently looking for more people to serve as: Greeters, Ushers, Readers, Communion Assistants, Acolytes, Refreshments.

E-mail the church office to volunteer to help.
