CAWP NEWS & NOTES
A newsletter to keep you informed about all things women and politics from the Center for American Women and Politics, Rutgers University

Did you miss Michel Martin?

Martin's talk as this year's Senator Wynona Lipman Lecturer in Women's Political Leadership was brilliantly apt for the program and the moment.  You can watch it here

Missing From The Money: Women

A new campaign,  Women on 20s, aims to put a woman on US paper currency - specifically, on the $20 bill currently occupied by Andrew Jackson. Find out why and vote for your favorite on-the-money choice.

Don't have to miss that election season buzz

Election Watch

While the calendar says 2015, that doesn't mean there aren't elections. Five states (KY, LA, MS, NJ, VA) have odd-year legislative or statewide contests; CAWP's Election Watch keeps  you up to date.

Not there yet: The Clinton Foundation's No Ceilings Project put out a video with the voices of Amy Poehler, Cameron Diaz, Sienna Miller and Padma Lakshmi - but the women themselves weren't there. They were underscoring that when it comes to gender equity, we're not there yet. Upworthy summarizes the story and highlights magazines whose cover-models were also not there.

Running or not? U.S. Senate and House races for 2016 are starting to shape up. Condoleezza Rice isn't running in CA, per the LA Times; Donna Edwards is in Maryland, per the Washington Post.

Rep. Miller will be missed: Just one woman, Rep. Candice Miller (R-MI) currently chairs a House committee. With her upcoming retirement, says The Hill, the GOP leadership is in the market for women who can take the help in committees.

The Senate will miss Mikulski:  The Baltimore Sun shares an interview with retiring Senator Barbara Mikulski, the dean of the Senate women and a mentor across party lines.
