GRANT ROAD
Basin design is from Euclid to Park
Clearing homes extends two more blocks to Santa Rita
The basin green area goes from Hampton to Park
Clearing of homes will continue two more blocks to Santa Rita.
The additional 2 blocks will allow for traffic reducing from 6 lanes down to four.

SALVAGING FROM THE HOMES SCHEDULED FOR DEMOLITION:  When we asked for clarification about salvaging items from the homes to be demolished we received this response from the City Engineer: "What we were hearing from the Contractor is that people were calling looking for access to the sites so they could look around or under the impression that they could go in on their own and salvage items.  This is not the case.

This is why we are making photos available. We have updated the grantroad.info site with additional information on salvage procedures. People can contact the info line and request the photos from us. Or, if there is something exterior that they can see from the outside that they want (fencing, brick, pavers, etc.). People need to contact the contractor with specific items they are interested in.

We would also ask that everyone understand there probably will be some snags and bumps in this process as this is the first time the City is attempting this type of endeavor. There will be a number of "lessons learned" as we move forward that will hopefully help shape this into a functioning, productive city policy. I also think as this project moves forward we will get a better idea of the types of items and materials people are looking to salvage and we can add more specific requirements to the demolition contractor's scope.                                                              (J. Daniels)

Note:  We will also print the photos in the e-news as they come to us

CONSTRUCTION IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD
You have a say...

A property owner in Jefferson Park Neighborhood has requested a variance with regard to splitting the lot at 1014 E. Linden and building a dwelling on each substandard sized lot. The JPNA Board is notified by the city for all variance requests.  It has reviewed this application for a variance  and has concluded that it is not in the best interests of the neighborhood.  The Board has filed a protest letter with the Board of Adjustment opposing the granting of the variance.

Property owners in JPN can file their own protests/approval with regard to the requested variance.  To obtain a copy of the form  CLICK HERE

If you need help filling out the form, or want more information, contact

Steve at [email protected] or 647-4381

Bob at [email protected] or 419-7410

We also encourage you to attend the public hearing of the Board of Adjustment on April 29th, at 1:30 PM, at the Mayor and Council Chambers (255 W Alameda) where the variance will be discussed and a decision made.

LAH Fundraiser/Gorgeous Garden Party

Music by the Ronstadts

April 19, Sunday 4 - 6 p.m.

Lend A Hand Senior Assistance, Inc. (LAH) provides absolutely free services to seniors in 13 neighborhoods in central Tucson, the largest of which is Jefferson Park.

The fundraiser will be at the home of Murray and Sue DeArmond, 2624 E. Clays Alley, which is north of Prince Road.

Clays Alley can be reached by going east on Prince from Campbell Ave. past Tucson Blvd and going north (left) on Cactus Blvd. Make another left off of Cactus Blvd. onto Clays Alley. Be assured you that you will find the garden to be breathtaking and the food to be truly delicious.  A menu of tappas (savory spanish appetizers) with at least one free drink has been planned.

The cost is only $35 per person - very inexpensive, especially when you consider that the entertainment will be by one of Tucson's most musical families. To purchase tickets, call 360-7613 or email [email protected].

KEEPING THE NEIGHBORHOOD SAFE - BE ALERT - REPORT

In Palo Verde neighborhood they were   thwarted  by a neighbor who went up and asked questions. If something does not look right call 911.
ABANDONED CARS - Cars which are clearly abandoned should be called in to 911. Know your street and call when you see something suspicious. They could be stolen.
