Congrats Trich Driver!

Congratulations to Trich Driver!

Trich Driver was one of about 10 people who submitted artwork for our "Design our 60th Anniversary Open House Invitation" contest. We had some really fantastic entries.

Our Board of Directors selected Trich's piece "Old Arc, New Arc" for the cover. We are currently getting the invitations printed.

Trich has been coming to our day program for two years. She is a very talented artist. Her work can be seen, and is for sale, at The Arc's display at The Towne Mall of Westminster.

If you would like to meet Trich, or even have her autograph your invitation, please plan to join us at 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 30th, at The Arc. Please R.S.V.P. to Kim Booe at [email protected]

Arc seeks nominations for annual awards
annual awards 2012

Do you know someone who has made a difference in the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities?

Do you know someone with an intellectual or developmental disability that has made great strides in achieving their goals? Do you know of a special education teacher who has made all the difference in the life of a child? Well, here is your chance to make sure they are recognized for their contributions.

The Arc Carroll County will hold its Annual Dinner & Community Awards on May 12th at The Portico at St. John Catholic Church in Westminster.

The Arc is now accepting nominations for individuals and groups to be recognized at our upcoming annual dinner and community awards. Please click here for a nomination form.

We also are seeking sponsors for this inspiring event. If you would like to support this evening that gives back to those who give so much to our community, click here for information on how to sponsor.

Arc visits state lawmakers on D-Day
We had a great time at Developmental Disabilities Day at the legislature in Annapolis.

This year, we had several people from The Arc join us on the trip: Greg Allen, Matt Hamilton, Pippi Kibler and Katia Anderson. Greg, Matt, Pippi and Katia all attend The Arc's day program and will directly benefit from a renovated building.

They were able to meet with our delegates Susan Krebs, Haven Shoemaker and David Vogt and thank them for submitting a bond bill on behalf of The Arc's building renovation. The Arc is asking the state for $500,000 toward its $3.5 million renovation. The group also got a chance to meet with Budget Secretary David Brinkley and Legislative Director Joe Getty.

Everybody had a great time.

New Work Opportunity!

We are excited about a wonderful opportunity to give back to our community.

Floyd Westbrook, pastor at the Westminster Rescue Mission, has mentioned that the Rescue Mission is in need of assistance folding and organizing donated clothing.  We are in the process of developing a group of people that love to organize.

This opportunity will allow us to help others and teach our individuals valuable skills at the same time. The Arc is always looking for ways to give back.

In the past, we have assisted other nonprofits such as the Cold Weather Shelter, The Carroll County Humane Society and others. If you would like to partner with The Arc, please contact Starr Jolbitado at 410-848-4124, or  [email protected]

Need to get out and enjoy the spring weather?

Come outside and run, or walk, with us. The Arc is holding its first Autism in Motion 5K on Saturday, April 25th.

The program offers support for adults on the spectrum by allowing them the freedom to engage in social activities of their choosing, such as ghost tours in Gettysburg and snow tubing.

The program uses Arc staff and interns from colleges and universities to offer classes such as barrier-free theater, creative writing and job hunters 101.

To keep this vital program going, we need your help. Please join us on Saturday, April 25th, for the first Annual Autism in Motion 5K with The Arc Carroll County.

The race begins at 8 a.m. at The Arc Carroll County at 180 Kriders Church Road. For details and to register visit  www.ArcCarroll.org or contact Britt Burr at [email protected]
