DON'T FORGET!

This Sunday--March 29--is our in-gathering of food for Aaron McNeil House! Please bring all your non-perishable food donations when you come on Sunday morning.  Thanks!

Private Confessions

The clergy rarely get requests to hear private confessions, but we are always available to do so, and you can rest assured that anything you need to share will be held in complete confidence.  Given that Lent is our most penitential season of the year, if you would like to make a confession during Holy Week, please feel free to contact one of us and make an appointment.

Palm Sunday and Holy Week

Our Holy Eucharist this Sunday morning will begin at the labyrinth at 10:15 (unless it is raining or extremely cold, in which case we will begin in All Saints), and we will process into the sanctuary with our palms.  Or, if you prefer, simply go into the sanctuary as usual.  This service is the beginning of our holiest time of time of the church year, and we encourage you to participate in this week's services leading up to Easter Day.  On Maundy Thursday at 6:00 pm we will gather in All Saints for our annual meal and Maundy Thursday liturgy, including foot-washing.  The service will end with a procession into the sanctuary and stripping of the altar in preparation for Good Friday.  On Friday morning, the Ministerial Association of Christian County will sponsor a Cross Walk, with Stations of the Cross, which begins at the old courthouse one block west of the church and continues through a number of stops for prayer and meditation, finishing at about 11:00 am.  At 12:00 noon, we will observe our Good Friday liturgy in the sanctuary at Grace, and the doors will remain open for prayer until 4:00 pm.

Festive Celebration of Easter

Easter Sunday is traditionally the celebration with all the "smells and bells"--incense, chanting, trumpets, and lots of flowers and alleluias.  This Easter we will also include a celebration of Holy Baptism.  The service will be followed by a festive reception and Easter Egg Hunt for kids of all ages. Let's fill the church for this most special day of the year!  Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again!

Easter Flowers

If you would like to contribute to our Easter flowers and list in our Easter service leaflet the person or people you would like to honor or remember, please call Ruth Rock in the parish office by Tuesday, March 31.

United Thank Offering

One of the traditional observances of Lent is the giving of alms for meeting the needs of others.  The United Thank Offering (UTO) is a long-established program of the Episcopal Church which raises money through fund drives associated with acknowledging our gratitude for all the many blessings of our lives--and using this money to fund grant applications for church social service programs worldwide.  Given that we are establishing a new social service program through Grace Church, it seems appropriate that we should again become involved in this worthwhile effort.  The way UTO works is that "blue boxes" are available to pick up at church and take home to fill with coins--or bills (!)--whenever we are aware of experiencing that amazingly joyful feeling of gratitude.  We will have an in-gathering of blue boxes at Easter.  Please give generously.  (We may be applying for a grant for GraceWorks at some point!)

Have you remembered Grace Church in your will?

We are working on starting a legacy society for Grace which will be called the George P. Giddinge Society--named for the first Rector at this church--as a step toward securing the future of our parish, especially our wonderful buildings and grounds.  All who include the church in their wills will automatically become members of this honorary group and names will be placed on a permanent plaque, probably in the narthex.  If you have already made this important decision and taken the steps necessary to insure that your wishes are carried out, please make our Treasurer, Bill Nichol, aware.  Thank you so much for your loving dedication to Grace Church, for all it has meant to so many people and for all that our ministry can continue to mean to the City of Hopkinsville.
