HUGE COMMUNITY TURNOUT
IN SUPPORT OF FORT POLK
Over 1,000 residents gathered in Alexandria, Leesville and Lake Charles at live listening sessions to show their support against the possible reduction of 6,500 troops from Fort Polk.

Audiences from across the region streamed comments to the Leesville location and also submitted recorded videos of their comments. Officials heard a variety of arguments from leaders, residents, and the state's congressional delegation in Washington, D.C., concerning the importance of avoiding cuts at Fort Polk.

"One of the things that makes Fort Polk unique is that it is not just the immediate off-base community that recognizes its value and importance," said Deborah Randolph, President, Central LA Chamber of Commerce and hostess of the Alexandria event. "The communities in this area of central Louisiana do as well, and they turned out to make their voices heard to the Army evaluators. We thank the elected officials, business leaders and citizens who attended the Alexandria Listening Session and we thank Fort Polk Progress for the opportunity to host it."
