A Few Things We're Thankful for at Saint Andrew Youth Groups

As you prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving, and all the kids are at home, family about to arrive, I'm thinking about all the things I'm thankful for so far in this season of Youth Ministry at Saint Andrew. First and foremost, is that we are blessed to have three groups of young people meeting together every week to worship, glorify and learn to follow Jesus deeper and more closely.  The study of Matthew has already opened eyes (we've learned about the Holy Trinity, Jesus' call and what it means to follow, how Bullies are a reality in life and how we take care of each other, and how to live up to the ideal, "Be perfect like your Father in Heaven is perfect;" in other words - we have a high standard as followers of the Living God, and that standard is LOVE!

Through this season we've laughed, played, gotten to know new friends, sang "Oceans" and "Sanctuary" and "God's Not Dead" together with candles representing God's spirit inside of us.  Truly, we have a lot to be thankful for.  And I know that God is going to do a lot with us throughout Christmas and this season of celebration, and then for the (hopefully) cool down starting in January.  Seriously, we all need a breather, and it will be a good time for all of us to press into what God wants for us.  If you need prayer, give a call (my cell is 904-540-4637).  If you need someone to talk to, I'd love to visit your home and meet your whole family.  Ultimately, I hope that as your young people are growing in Christ, we can all grow as a community of faith through many means (worship on Sundays, Youth Group Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday nights, being in the community through sports and the arts).  I expect that we're in for some big things in the coming year, and now, as Advent comes and we await and anticipate the birth of Christ, let us be thankful for a savior, Christ, who gave all for us.  There is no greater blessing! God is good and rightly to be praised!  Let us praise him wherever we go, no matter what the circumstances.  Christians are the people of Joy and Celebration.

Happy Thanksgiving!
Dan

A Special Advent Celebration Sunday December 7th Dinner, Music/Carols, Movie, and Wreath Making; Starts at 5 PM,  ($5 for teens and adults)
Our High School Youth will be joining the Advent Celebration on December 7th, and the church wants all of our families to come out and enjoy the Advent activities.  Starting at 5 pm with lots of family friendly fun including a meal and childcare available, we will gather and enjoy this time together.  Again, Your Whole Family is invited!  For the meal, it is $5 per person, and some of our youth of the church will be playing guitar and providing some of the music.  This will be a great time to think on the coming season of Advent.  Let Dan know if you'll be coming as soon as possible.
Christmas
Bluffton Christmas Parade!

Dec 6th at 8:30 am in Downtown Bluffton.

Parade starts at 10 am,  we will get meeting point closer to Saturday Dec 6th.

The Bluffton Christmas Parade is coming up, and you are invited to march along with Saint Andrew By-The-Sea UMC.  We want representatives from both campuses and both youth groups to come out, wave and smile, and generally have a great time celebrating the season.  Amanda and I (Dan) did it last year, and I dressed as a star and danced around.  It was awesome, and we plan to do it again this year but with Ransom for his first Christmas Parade.  Come out and join us this year!  Shoot a message to Dan and let him know you're coming.

Our Youth set out on an adventure to Columbia once a year to join in a Revolution.  We join thousands of youth from Methodist Youth Groups from around the state there for an amazing time of worship, challenging talks, and amazing arts meant to inspire and grow our faith.  We stay there for the weekend and get into Scripture, enjoy the Columbia community around the State Building, and stay at the Hilton Hotel right near the theater that this event takes place at.  "Revolution 2015 will see over 2,000 youth come together in Columbia, SC for worship, committing their life to Christ, and answering a call to Ministry."   Put the date on your calendar, Cost will be $150, so start saving.  Oh, and ***We will be back for the Super Bowl!***  This is one of the best events we do all year!
