Just some of our clients

Welcome to the IT Developers email newsletter and (a slightly belated) Happy New Year! In this issue we take a quick look back at just a few of the Big IT Security Stories of 2014.

Then with the remorseless rise in online shopping this brings challenges not only to the high street but also to the internet retailers and particularly their distribution centres.

We take a look at one of our clients, Liverpool Football Club and some interesting facts around their warehousing & distribution centre that we support.

We trust you find our newsletters of interest and/or use but at any point, you can select the link at the bottom of every email to unsubscribe. As an alternative and should you wish, please feel free to give us a call on the number above.
Hackers Cancel Christmas for Kids, Small & Big Alike!
...well not quite, but there were many headlines  in newspapers including....

"Millions of gamers could not use their PlayStation 4 after an apparent cyber-attack at Christmas".

But Hacking is a year round activity! As evidenced by these other two major stories of 2014.

eBay Hack

This year eBay asked all 145m of its active users to change their passwords after it emerged that hackers had managed to steal the names, email and postal addresses, phone numbers and dates of birth of its customers.

Webcam Spy

Wireless security cameras and baby monitors around the world are broadcasting to the internet and accessible by anyone because their owners failed to change the default password on their security settings. One hacker took advantage of this in November and created a website where thousands of cameras could be browsed as if they were television channels. Visitors to the website were able to see an elderly woman asleep in bed in Wakefield, children watching television and dozing in cots and a man making a cup of tea in his Norwich kitchen. None of them had any idea that the security camera they had bought to protect them was invading their privacy.

Liverpool Football Club - Where's That Shirt?
LFC is a valued client of 2 years. The non-footballing side of the 'business' includes shipments from their retail warehouse of over 200,000 orders worldwide every year. Jeseys are the main item sold but are only one of the 2,000 stock lines offered. A fundamental operational requirement within the LFC warehouse is to "pick, pack & despatch" accurately. In collaboration with IT Developers, bespoke software was developed that helped reduce warehouse errors providing significant savings on stock, postage & staffing costs whilst improving customer satisfaction.

We asked Ian Croft, Head of Distribution Centre for LFC for some additional facts about the operation...

Whilst the UK is the major market, shipments go to every corner of the world, (currently over 140 countries) including the Christmas Islands,

The key international countries & regions for sales are the US, Australia, Ireland, Scandinavia and Central Europe,

Peak launch is for the Home Kit, where over 30,000 parcels are despatched in a matter of weeks, and

Warehouse staff on average pick 30 orders per hour and despatch over 95% within 3 days.

"IT Developers proved instantly that they understand how my business operates. No other software development company I have dealt with have 'got it' so quickly
& accurately as they did."
