Storytime with Illustrator and Actor,
Richard Kinsey

A native of Los Angeles, who has lived and performed all over the world, Richard is probably best known for his award-winning performance of Javert in the smash musical, "Les Miserables", on Broadway. His involvement in the performing arts is reflected in his visual art, after all, "the canvas or drawing pad is a stage with performers as well".

His most recent work was illustrating "Lucky" with a story by Craig Inglis and published late last year. Kinsey has two other children's titles coming out soon:  "Mr. Pricklebear" by Diane King and "The Purple Burple" by Judith Deem DuPree.

Richard will lead a two-hour workshop on illustration and performance, FREE, Sunday, August 23 from 2 to 4 PM.

Space is limited to only 60 children (plus parents). Reservations are required, please email [email protected] to reserve your space. More details about the class to follow.

Can Your Family Come Out and Play?

PLAY IT FORWARD is a family-friendly afternoon filled with a carnival-like atmosphere and where creativity reigns supreme. Children of all ages will get to have hands-on experiences at different booths featuring such activities as toy-making, mask-making, face-painting, light table animation drawing, lyric writing, and guitar playing.

There'll be an opportunity for you to make a short collaborative stop-motion cartoon working with leading experts in the animation field. You'll create storyboards, develop characters, and then film your script against a background...you may even end up in it!

About Us
The Chuck Jones Center for Creativity, a 501(c)3 non-profit public charity, was founded in 1999 by the four-time Academy Award-recipient, legendary director and creator Chuck Jones. The Center is located in Orange County, California at South Coast Collection, just north of the 405 at Harbor Boulevard.

The Center's vision is a world where creativity is known and experienced in every discipline, by the many, not just the few.

In today's world, when arts education is practically non-existent, this is an important goal; we are dedicated to reinvigorating the creative spirit and we are doing it through art classes, exhibitions, lectures, and film festivals, all of which spring from the material in the Chuck Jones archive. Jones was a determined saver and his writings, art, and other ephemera from a nine-decade life along with his philosophy of guiding and nurturing instruction form the basis of our programs.

If you would like to donate your time or your money to our programs, please contact Sasha Advani at  949-660-7791 x 20107  or [email protected]
