Come to the Agape Feast on Maundy Thursday April 2nd
Agape is a Greek word used in the New Testament to mean the love that we have for each other as Christians. Paul's famous summary, "faith, hope and love abide, these three, and the greatest of these is love" (I Corinthians 13:13), uses the word agape for love. In the first few centuries of the church's life, worship on the Lord's day took place in the form of an agape meal, or love feast."
One week from today, we will have that love feast in our Narthex starting at 6:00 pm. We'll serve olives, nuts, hummus, delicious fruits and crusty breads. Everyone is welcomed to bring something for the meal, though no one must bring anything to participate. Children are welcome as always. If you choose to bring something, let us know at [email protected] please.
After the meal, which can symbolize the last supper of Jesus with his disciples, we will go into the Nave for the last Eucharist prior to the Resurrection, and the stripping of the altar, which symbolizes the humiliation of Jesus at the hands of the soldiers.

Looking for Some Volunteer Lectors
We are looking for some people to read who may have never read in church before. With so many additional readings during Holy Week, more lectors are needed, and Volunteer Spot is a very easy way to sign up. Take a look at these services, and click on one where you might be able to help out. Children are definitely eligible to read if they would like to do so. There is no obligation to continue on as a lector, but beware, you may just find that you receve the blessing and want to do more.

A Lenten Message from The National Church
[Episcopal Public Policy Network] And God said, "Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food." Genesis 1:29 The barren landscape of winter with its naked tree limbs and hard, frozen ground is hardly evocative of fertility, reproduction, and new life. Yet we know that these processes continue beneath the visible surface of things, and we have faith that the earth will spring back to life in a few weeks, growing a harvest that will nourish us throughout the year. As part of the priest's discretionary fund Fr. Billy requests that we donate gift cards from HEB, preferably in the $10 denomination. Please place them in the alms basins. They enable us to help those who come to us in need.

Our drive is this Saturday March 28. The Bloodmobile will in our parking lot from 8:30 till 11:15 am. If you forgot to sign up, call me at 512-345-0704 Call also if you signed up but do not remember your time.
Please remember to eat breakfast before you arrive and bring along your driver's license as ID.

New Thrift Shop Curb Appeal
Here we see Bob Beyer surveying the latest of the gardens that he has added to the landscaping in the Parish Hall-Thrift Shop areas. This garden adds a lot of curb appeal to the Thrift Shop with water-sparing plants that will grow easily in the new bed.
Bob thanks Brian McElligott for helping with the bed preparations. They constructed the garden with rocks and mulch that was readily available here on the campus, and landscape designs and plants donated by Lana and Bob Beyer.
Although some of the plants are small now, they will take off and grow this Spring and beautify the campus. We greatly appreciate Bob's efforts in lending his knowledge, expertise and time in adding so much beauty to our Resurrection campus.

Preparing for
Easter
There are several preparations for Easter that make it the joyous occasion that it always is here at Resurrection. Please check this list and see if there is something that you can help us with:
Volunteer to Read: Use the easy VolunteerSpot, see above.
Making Palm Crosses: The Daughters of the King under the direction of Helen Paulsen will be making Palm Crosses for Palm Sunday starting at 9:30 am in Classroom 4 Saturday morning March 28th. If you don't already know how to make the crosses, Helen will be happy to show you how to make them.
Maundy Thursday Feast: Bring some food for the feast (See Above)
Easter Egg Hunt: Take some plastic eggs and stuff them with candies or other goodies to make some great kids happy on Easter morning. There is a brightly colored receptacle in the Narthex with eggs.
Altar Guild Cleaning: The women and men of the Altar Guild will be cleaning the church prior to Easter Sunday on Holy Sat. April 4th.

Looking for some real bargains? Well this is your lucky day -- or days for that matter. The Resurrection Thrift Shop is having a 50%-off sale on all clothing items and shoes through the 14th of April.
The hours for shopping are
10 am until 1pm daily, and they are open the first Sat. of each month. So plan a shopping spree and take advantage of this sale.
