RE:                 Congratulations to Michael Guillot

********************************************************************

The purpose of this memorandum is to inform you that on Tuesday, September 30, 2014, De La Salle's President, Michael Guillot, completed the final step in his doctoral program.  His dissertation entitled The One Less Traveled By: A New Model of Leadership for the Nonprofit Sector was unanimously approved by his professors.

Now, Mike Guillot will be known as Dr. Guillot as he has earned his doctorate in philosophy (Ph.D.) from Antioch University in the programmatic area of Leadership and Change.  As the title of "Leadership and Change" suggests, this doctoral program focuses on the art and science of leading change with a uniquely designed interdisciplinary curriculum that places each student's practitioner work at the heart of their doctoral study.

The program of study at Antioch required three years of attending four residencies each year, then a focused effort on scholarly inquiry resulting in a formal dissertation.  We congratulate Dr. Guillot on his effort in achieving this milestone in academic achievement.

As an indicator of the excellence regarding De La Salle's (DLS) faculty, DLS now has five members who have earned their doctorates.  In addition, one other member of the faculty, Tony Behan, is nearly finished his doctoral program in theology.  In all, 21 out of 33 (63%) faculty members have advanced degrees (either a doctorate or master's degree), and three members of the faculty are currently working toward completing their master's degrees.

When you see Dr. Guillot please add your congratulations on his accomplishment and know that DLS is committed to excellence in teaching and learning.  As always, God bless you and your families as we strive together to provide your child with an excellent education embedded in Lasallian principles.
