Upcoming Deadline: DAAD-AICGS Research Fellowship Program

The American Institute for Contemporary German Studies (AICGS), the leading resource and research center for analysis and assessment of the German-American relationship in an evolving Europe and changing world, is pleased to announce the DAAD-AICGS Research Fellowship Program. The program is designed to bring scholars and specialists working on Germany, Europe, and/or transatlantic relations to AICGS, which is located in Washington, DC, for stays of two months each.

Women in German Faculty Research Award

Women in German Faculty Research Award to help nurture and sustain feminist research and publication in German Studies

Eligibility
All faculty are eligible to apply for the award, but preference will be given to faculty at mid-career, with the expectation that the award can facilitate research leading to promotion to full professor. Applicants must be members of Women in German. One award in the amount of $1500 will be granted in 2014.

Criteria
We seek proposals that address a significant topic with demonstrated relevance to German Studies informed by a feminist perspective. Preference will be given to projects that engage the intersections of gender with other categories such as sexuality, class, race, ethnicity, religion, and citizenship. We also encourage proposals that further the project of rethinking German Studies along transnational lines. The award funding can be used for research travel, to obtain materials, or for other demonstrated purposes necessary to the completion of the project.

Proposal Guidelines
In a statement of no more than 750 words, describe the project, specify how the funding will be used, and explain the intended outcomes (e.g. presentations, publications, etc.) Please include a timetable and budget and list any funding anticipated from other sources.

Deadline
Proposals should be submitted to Hester Baer (hbaer@umd.edu) by March 1.
The Award Committee, consisting of the WiG President and two other WiG members, will consider applications and send notifications.

Recipient Responsibility
As soon as is feasible, recipients are expected to present the results of their research at the WiG conference (in a poster or panel presentation). Acknowledgement of the award in publications is expected.

Call for Applications: The Arnold Heidsieck Scholarship Fund

The Arnold Heidsieck Scholarship Fund offers several scholarships for one or two semesters at a university in the U.S. The program invites applications from BA-students in the humanities who are currently enrolled at a German university and have a focus on German literature, language, history and culture. The scholarships provide monthly grants of up to 500 EUR and travel allowances of up to 1,000 EUR.

Deadline for applications: March 27, 2014 for a stipend starting in August or September 2014
