Senior Activity Center

Portsmouth's Senior Activity Center is up and running at the Community Campus (in the former Mark Wentworth Senior Enrichment suite). Visit their web page for a list of activities offered.
Volunteers are needed to run activities, welcome guests and create a welcoming space for seniors. For more information, contact Brinn Chute at 603-610-4433.

Develop sleep rituals so your body knows when it is getting ready for bed. Include relaxing activities such as reading, listening to relaxing music, or having a non-caffeinated hot beverage. Relaxation exercises such as gentle yoga, stretching and deep breathing are other good ideas to work into a sleep routine.

Try this meditation exercise when you have completed your sleep ritual: First, do ten deep, smooth, equal breaths. Second, close your eyes and list five things you see [this may be abstract squiggly things or a beach you love to visit], then with your eyes closed list five things you hear, and then list five things you feel physically. Next go back up and list four things in each category, then three things in each, two things in each and finish with one thing in each category [See, Hear, Feel]. Once this is done, do ten more deep, slow, smooth breaths. Sweet dreams.
