Tampa Bay Times: St. Pete mulls votes on historic neighborhoods
The distinct histories and architecture of the city's neighborhoods have been credited with fueling its recent renaissance, but a battle has started over what kind of balance to strike between preservation and development.
At issue is a proposed overhaul of the city's historic preservation ordinance - part of a 176-page package recently approved by a city board. Among the revisions: decreasing the number of property owners in a neighborhood that would have to agree before an application for local landmark status could be submitted.

The clapping, the cheering, the standing, are all for one man, celebrating a massive milestone. In a little more than a year, there will be room for about 400 more people to live near downtown's western edge within walking distance of restaurants, art galleries and Tampa Bay Rays games.

Bay News 9: Residents urged to vote on new pier design ahead of deadline
Friday is the last day for residents to vote on their favorite St. Petersburg pier designs and the city is hoping more people take part.
The survey closes at 11:59 p.m. Friday. Residents can either take it online or in person at the Mayor's Action Center at City Hall on Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
