Thanks for Coming!
A big thanks to everyone who  made it to one of our Regional  Practice Sessions last month! We had an outstanding turnout, with over 100 providers attending.

For those who weren't able to attend, we created a video of the  "Addiction as a Chronic Disease" presentation and it will be available online soon!

We're still enrolling First Breath Moms into Striving to Quit!

900 First Breath participants have already enrolled into the Striving To Quit (STQ) study and we hope to enroll another 350 women. Participants receive intensive smoking cessation and relapse prevention counseling during the postpartum period as well as significant financial incentives.

Our current STQ participants' smoking abstinence rates are very impressive. Please help your patients take advantage of this program by enrolling them into First Breath now. Our staff at the WWHF will screen them for study eligibility and enroll them into the study.

To ensure women receive the full 6 months of postpartum services, we are able to enroll women with estimated delivery dates before May 21, 2015.

Developing Discrepancy

It is a frustrating fact of life that you cannot GIVE a person the motivation to change. If someone genuinely does not want to change a behavior, there is not much you can do to help them. The silver lining of this cloud is, if someone is ambivalent, or unsure about whether or not to make a change, you have an opportunity to have an impact by helping the participant to develop discrepancy.  For more information, click here.
