Simone DeSousa Gallery:  Marie T. Hermann - Gallery Conversation

Hermann will share insights on her second solo exhibit in Detroit, "And dusk turned dawn, Blackthorn," on view through June 20. In this exhibit she presents a group of twelve new still life scenes from the everyday life, shown in a room of William Morris wallpaper covered walls, where the modernist language of the pieces contrasts with the immediately recognizable Arts and Crafts floral pattern. Elaine L. Jacob Gallery:   如何回归 - How to Return? Images by Contemporary Chinese Photographers

This exhibition consists of works by Adou, Han Lei, Song Chao, Liu Zheng, Lou Dan, Wang Ningde and Zhang Dali presenting images of the Chinese people in a variety of contexts all in black and white with the exception of Zhang Dali's conceptual works where the portraits become silhouettes in the environment of the demolition of the old China to create the new.

Great Lakes Cafe presents the work of Detroit Artist and Designer Taru Lahti June 18th through July 19th. Sundance Institute to host programs for New Frontier and Native artists that will be presented at the Allied Media Conference at Wayne State University in Detroit, June 18-19. These events will explore how the convergence of story and technology impact justice, and are also part of the Institute's efforts to connect with independent artists and audiences in regions across the country.
