Well Christmas has come and gone. All the gifts have been unwrapped. You've spent time with family and friends, enjoyed some good food and have somewhat settled back into your routine. In short you have wrapped up the year.
For many of us once we unwrap the gifts we think we can put things and people behind us. We officially celebrate this as we welcome in the New Year with some "Auld Lang Syne" and more time with family or friends.
One question remains:
What was left unopened in your life this year that you are dragging into the next year?
Maybe it's a needed conversation with someone that may change the direction of the relationship or their life? Maybe it was a further accumulation of debt that weighs down your family? Better fitness or eating? Maybe it is a health issue that is unresolved or pending diagnosis? What about an internal struggle between you and God?
There are many things a man can leave unopened out of fear or sheer lack of effort. Maybe time just got away from you? I should know since I have my own list of things to do, conversations to be had and people to see. Some of these will be difficult and I know it's going to take a lot out of me but either I do them or I suffer the consequences. Such is the challenge in a man's life.
As the old saying goes time waits for no man. Although the clock may strike midnight and the calendar page may turn it doesn't mean that things become anew apart from the date. It reminds us that there is still opportunity in the new day we've been given.
No matter how you reflect back on this last year or look forward to the new year always remember this- no man walks alone. You have family and friends but more importantly you have God. He's been constant through the entire year even when you were anything but constant.
As you consider your next steps into 2015 please consider joining us over
@ THE CORE. We exist so that you have a place to walk alongside other men that share the same challenges. We need new men. We need old men. We need men who desire a difference in their lives. Are you willing to take the step that needs to be taken?
Have a safe and Happy New Year!
