Memorial Day is in honor of, and remembering the people who served and passed on while in America's military. We are grateful for those who stood up for freedom and were willing to fight for others and for what they believed in.
This Sunday the message will be about "Unsung Heroes & She-roes" -- those who lived in times of war, conflict, oppression, or in difficult conditions. They
performed acts of courage (even outrageous acts of courage) to support the well-being of others. Some are known; some are relatively unknown. Some quietly lived brave, daring lives without the need for recognition or honors. Some used their minds, their creativity, to create positive change.
Whether you can be with us or not this Sunday, you may want to think about your life in terms of "creating change." Do you realize the positive difference you have had on your world just by being alive at this time? Have you paused to thank others that have made your life better?
We would love to see you this Sunday as we explore the "unsung heroes & she-roes" and our own spiritual consciousness. Remember, you are always, always welcome at Unity Athens!

WE INVITE YOU TO OUR EARLY MEDITATION SERVICE, "MORNING QUIETUDE"
Sundays, 9:40 to 10:20 AM. Morning Quietude meets in the Lobby area (through the double glass doors in the middle of the building). Led by Rev. Bronte, this is a time for quiet contemplation, soft music, and centering. Whether you join us as a pre-service preparation time, a stand-alone "church service," or as a preface to your other Sunday plans, we welcome all. If you arrive after 9:40, that's fine, just please turn off phone, etc., and quietly join the circle. Donations are appreciated. Reiki practitioners are often available to freely give healing touch and energy.
Morning Quietude will pause for June & July & possibly August. However, the meditation area in the lobby (center front glass doors) will be set up with soft music and chairs from 9:40 to 10:20 for anyone who wishes to meditate individually.
One Book Study Group continues through mid-June. This is held on a "love offering" basis.

A COURSE IN MIRACLES. Taught by the highly experienced and insightful facilitator, Drew Smith, this popular class dives deeply into A Course, while making the text even more understandable and relevant to daily life. Open to all. If you don't own the book, there's always someone willing to share. Because of the ongoing nature of this class, feel free to stop in as you can, or to participate every Sunday. Donations are accepted and appreciated. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Our CommUnity Movie gatherings will pause for the summer months and resume in September. We are so appreciative for the great turnouts we've had for recent movies including last Sunday's TALKING STORY. We are looking forward to showing more great, spiritually-based movies in just a few months.
Our next DEEKSHA "Oneness Blessing" at UNITY ATHENS will be May 31 at 3:45.
Experience the "Oneness Blessings" regularly held at Unity Athens. Blessing Givers from Athens & Atlanta are hoping you will be able to experience the next Oneness Blessing Circle, held on Sunday, May 31, from 3:45 to 5:00 and led by Vera Vogt. This is given on a "Love offering" basis with donations going toward the Unity Athens Expansion Fund. Also known as Deeksha, the Oneness Blessing is "the transfer of intelligent sacred energy, Divine Grace, which causes the heart to flower, heals relationships, quiets the constant chatter of the mind, opens the door to higher states of awareness, and initiates a process of permanent awakening into Oneness where there is no longer a sense of separation and personal suffering. What remains is causeless love, joy and peace in the present moment." First-time blessing receivers report a powerful sense of being graced with Spirit's presence; those who've received the blessing before report ever-deepening levels of awareness. You will be able to learn more about this blessing, which is growing in global awareness, and at the circle this sacred energy is transferred through the Blessing Givers to the recipients. Sunday, June 7: Special Hands-On Workshop: 1:00 to 3:00 at Unity Athens
"Essential Oils Class: EOs for Cleaning plus Make a Bath Fizzy"
led by Jennifer Ziegler-Gorman, LMT and owner of "Raindrops...Massage by Jennifer."
From Jennifer: "In this class, we'll be delving into using EOs (essential oils) for cleaning and we will go over the basics of EO use that were covered in the 1st class. Throw out the toxic brands in your cabinet and easily make your own customizable cleaners. We'll also be making Bath Fizzies! All ages are welcome (parent discretion). Suggested cost of $15 to cover cost of supplies, etc, but no one will be turned away. Hope to see you there!" From Rev. Bronte: "There's always something new and intriguing to learn from Jennifer. Besides being a highly-skilled massage therapist, energy worker and intuitive, her knowledge in the areas of health, healing, and wholeness also makes her a great teacher and presenter. We hope you can join us for what is sure to be a fun, hands-on, positive-energy time!"
Details: Suggested cost of $15 but no one will be turned away. All ingredients and use of essential oils will be provided, but if you have an EO at home that you prefer to use, feel free to bring it. (Please label or mark it in some way as yours.) Seating may be limited, so if at all possible, please register for this class ahead of time so we can hold a spot for you and to be sure we have enough materials. Because the workshop starts at 1:00, we suggest if you plan to attend the 11:00 a.m. service that you bring a lunch to eat between the end of church and the workshop, or run out to get some quick food. Attend a "New Member" class to become a member of Unity Athens.
Consider making a deeper connection and becoming a member of our Unity Athens Family.
To achieve membership, there are several requirements: attendance at a New Member class, taught by Rev. Bronte, and all new members are asked to view the DVD, "What is New Thought?," which explores the history and philosophy of the New Thought movement, including Unity. We will have showings of this important documentary around the time of New Member classes, or you can purchase it online to watch. If you are transferring an active membership from another Unity church, it may be possible to waive one or both requirements. It is also highly recommended that you attend one of our book study groups for a deeper insight into Unity principles and teachings. There is no fee to take the New Member class or to become a member. These classes are open to all and are a good way to lean more about the Unity movement and Unity Athens. Check with Bronte for dates & schedules for classes, the movie showing, and the next opportunity to join Unity Athens.
