New DREAM RC22 Early Childhood Education Program with Robinson Cano

Key partnerships are the foundation to our sustainability and growth, so our new collaboration with MLB All Star Robinson Cano and his RC22 Foundation is a DREAM come true. We are working hard in San Pedro de Macoris, building, organizing and preparing for our first Montessori Early Childhood Education center in the community of Barrio Lindo. We will celebrate our accomplishments at the 40/40 Club in NYC, November 12th, so stay tuned. Have a look!
Verizon's DREAM

Our Contemporary Music Program had the experience of a lifetime this past month in Punta Cana, thanks to Verizon and their dedicated employees. Six of our young musicians had the once in a lifetime experience of playing on stage in front of more than 800 people with band members from Journey, Steffanwolf, Santana and Boston. Verizon contributed many instruments and school supplies, which was our organization's largest in kind donation ever! Verizon team members prepared more than 600 backpacks with their own hands, filled with our top supply donation needs. We are so thankful for this opportunity, the incredible supplies and will never forget our amazing performance.
New Camp Inspires a Love of Music in the Community

Our first ever music camp was a big hit, open to young musicians and completely FREE. More than 45 students participated in six days of workshops, music clinics, concerts, and instrumental practice. The week culminated in the overwhelmingly popular Master Class, hosted by Instrumentos Fernando Giraldez and featuring artists Antonio Gonz?lez, Alfio Lora, David Vazquez, Jarrenton de Leon, Javier Vargas, Alex Jacquemin, Anthony Jefferson, Jairo Milanes, Daniel Alvares, Rafael Diaz and Robert Ottis. Thanks to our sponsors Yamaha, D'Addario, Ampeg, Meinl, and Mojito Bar, we were able to fill the DREAM Center with learning, music and summer fun.
Time for the Butterflies!

Every July, DREAM gets an excited little feeling in our tummy... The Butterfly Effect is coming! Thanks to local hero Michelle Bourdeau of Anadri Spa and all the amazing women in our community, this annual tradition of celebrating women and water sports is ready to give back. On July 11th, there will be an opening party, the event itself, then a final dinner and auction, with proceeds going towards high quality DREAM education programs! Time to fly, butterflies...
DREAM Summer Schools and Camps Are Back For Our 11th Year!

Summer 2015 is off to an incredible start. This month we said goodbye to The Clinton School/Education First and Wilmington Friends School, who finished  unforgettable mini camps in Los Brazos and Sabaneta! Now we are preparing for six camps, including new sites in Cangrejo and Las Terrenas. A big thanks to Aquiles Damiron-Alcantara, a former DREAMer who led an engaging volunteer management workshop to help prepare our team for the work ahead!
Coco Loves Books

Coco has done it again, providing inspiration for our DREAM Public Library system, DREAM Con Libros Mobile Libraries and now... the Coco Book Challenge! Coco has been reading as many books as she can and having you all match her with books donated to kids in the DR. Pretty cool, huh? Donate here!
Welcome to our New Graduating Class!

Thanks to a dedicated staff, involved parents and a pro-active community, DREAM has graduated 80 young life-long learners from our five Montessori Preschools! We are so proud... this is how change happens.

DREAMer of the Month
Amarilis Mena Gonzalez

Amarilis has worked with The DREAM Project as a Montessori Teacher in 2009 in the public school in Abreu. Last year, Amarilis performed outstanding service as the Montessori Coordinator, providing leadership, guidance and support to all teachers and schools in the program. Amarilis is a collaborative, caring, and effective leader who has a passion for early childhood education. Although we will miss her in this position next year, we are excited to announce that she has been selected by the Ministry of Education for a full-time teaching position.
