Notice of Surface Water Treatment Technique Violation from the Ft. Worth Water Dept.
Notice of Surface Water Treatment Technique Violation from the Ft. Worth Water Department

This notice is to advise you about a water treatment violation that occurred by our wholesale water provider, the City of Fort Worth, when drinking water was not properly disinfected for a period time at their Eagle Mountain Plant on February 16 -17, 2015.

Westlake staff has been in communication with Fort Worth water officials, who said the water from the Eagle Mountain Plant during this time-frame has long since passed through our Westlake water tank, likely before February 18. In addition, Westlake Public Works Department tested our water during routine monthly sampling on February 19 and found the water to be up to standards, with negative results of coliform bacteria (disease causing bacteria). We want to assure our Westlake water customers that our water is safe to drink and of exceptional quality.

Fort Worth officials said this issue was self-reported to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) on February 20; the City of Fort Worth passed the information to Westlake officials yesterday. TCEQ requires a notice to be sent to all customers after a violation occurs. Fort Worth water officials said they have since modified their standard operating procedures and instituted re-training of operations staff to prevent such an incident from occurring again.
