Amazing Tails:

Making Connections with PAWS

Bill Sudell and Skipper
PAWS Therapy Team

"I have never doubted that Skipper (my 12 pound, 6 year old Schnoodle) is appreciated by those we visit. He is always ready with a wagging tail and doggie kisses for all who want them, never turning down a treat in return. And I never tire of hearing the "He is so cute", "I love Skipper" and "Thank you for bringing him here" type of comments he elicits.

But today's visit to Easter Seals was extra special. As we entered one of the rooms on our rounds, after a couple of shouts of "Look, Skipper's here!" the 25 or so clients and staff present broke into spontaneous, loud clapping and cheering. I can't speak for Skipper, but it sure made my day!"

But does oxytocin play the same role in social relationships that aren't about reproduction? To find out, scientists in Japan sprayed either oxytocin or a saline spray into the nostrils of 16 pet dogs... Click here to read more!

A PAWSitive Impact
"I just wanted to take a minute to compliment the PAWS therapy dogs and their people, too. Our residents' faces light up when the dogs come in. The dogs and their people are a very nice group and we enjoy having them."
