Announcing the First Annual
Benjamin B. Tregoe Award for
Strategic Leadership in Education!

We know that TregoED strategies have achieved exemplary results in the districts that we have worked with and would like to recognize the hard work that educational leaders have done to effectively address the issues, decisions, and problems they face. Winning entries will demonstrate how the use of TregoED consulting services or strategies have led to successful resolutions and/or sustained improvements within the school, district or agencies. Entries may be submitted by organizations, teams or individuals. Our application process will open on May 1, 2015 with entries due by August 31, 2015. For more information, contact [email protected].

Problem Analysis (PA) Reboot
Now that school districts have become masters at collecting data, our PA strategy has become even more important. PA helps school leaders use the data more efficiently and effectively to solve problems as diverse as student achievement, behavioral issues, facilities and school culture. Our recently re-engineered materials include powerful new education-based cases, exercises and activities with steps that are easy to understand and apply. Want more information? Register here to join our 15-minute introductory webinar, "Problem Solving: Getting to the Root of the Matter" on March 18, 2pm ET.
Lasting Solutions

Colorado Springs District D11

D11 recently used PA, TregoED's problem-solving strategy, in several schools to determine why student achievement did not meet their expectations. After going through the PA steps, they determined that there was a trend of four causes which became the focus of their district support priorities for the school year. A great example of using process to remove the emotional responses, drill down the problem and create focused solutions!

Cabarrus County, NC

Seventy teacher leaders (department heads, team and grade-level leaders, etc.) were recently trained in TregoED processes at the Teacher Leadership Academy in Cabarrus County. In their positions they will have many opportunities to use TregoED tools in collaborative work groups for problem solving and decision making.

On the administrative leadership side, Cabarrus had 25 district and school leaders trained in the PA process in February. Problems such as increase in number of suspensions at a middle school, decrease in expected student proficiency in reading, and performance gap with special education students were effectively addressed during the training.

Lake County, FL

We look forward to working with district leaders in this large FL district this spring. A major purpose of our work together will be to build process "experts" in different functional areas (i.e., Curriculum and Instruction, Human Resources, etc.), so that when there is a critical issue or problem to be resolved, each district department will have a facilitator with advanced process skills. Now, that's good thinking!

Burlington County, NJ Alternative School

TregoED has been working with leaders from the Burlington County Special Services District in NJ for the last year. These school and district leaders are currently working on a major restructuring initiative that will expand services to provide a full continuum of special and alternative education programs, and also organize their campuses by age instead of disability. Leaders are using TregoED tools to plan for the restructuring, make critical decisions, and then to address risks associated with the change.

Iredell-Statesville Schools, NC

David Blattner and Traci Fox, representatives of ISS, attended the

Florida Educational Technology Conference to share their success with

using TregoED's Decision Analysis (DA) strategy to determine the operating system and device that best suited the educational needs of their district. Their use of strategy allowed them to effectively collaborate with stakeholders (students, teachers, staff members) throughout the pilot program and ensure that their Race to the Top funds were well spent with a choice that was made based on their criteria.

SCAN in the News

TregoED developed a SCAN lesson for the upcoming NASA MMS mission which used the perspective of four different careers to explore the importance of the mission. The Magnetospheric Multiscale satellite will study the mystery of how magnetic fields around Earth connect and disconnect, explosively releasing energy via a process known as magnetic reconnection. The lesson was incorporated in a MMS Challenge Curriculum and approved by NASA. Representatives from TregoED have been invited to the launch and will be running a Google Hangout with classes and a MMS Challenge Maker Space at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida the day before the launch.
