JUNE 2015

We had 123 in our "GIANT GRASS SKIRT",

we are awaiting results from Guinness World Records.

On behalf of the Far West Ski Association

I would like to congratulate Eileen Sanford, Host Council Convention Coordinator, and all of you for an outstanding job in hosting the 83rd Annual Far West Ski Association Convention.

I don't know which was the absolute highlight for me - up at the top of my list are standing on the deck of the USS Midway listening to Bubba Sanford talk about the ship's history and Eileen Sanford giving the audience the count of 5 to sit down at the Awards Banquet and they did!  It was one of the most fun Conventions I have ever attended and I have attended quite a few.
I was so happy to be able to go to the Thursday night event. I hardly ever get to do that, and it was well worth it.

We have had rave reviews about everything. We had so many volunteers and they were well organized thanks to Judy Schultheis and Laura Meldrum.  Catherine Ohl was everywhere - website development, graphic design, registration brochure and event flyers, Awards, Powerpoint presentation, and more. Outstanding job - don't know how you do it all. The optional events came off without a hitch (despite an accident on the Seal Tour). Kudos to Susie Vetter, Gene Fulkerson, Catherine Ohl, Hobe Schroeder, Stephanie Young and Laura Medrum. I really would like to import Debbie Schroeder to Arizona to do the transportation again! The tote bags were great.  Thank you Eileen Weiner! Nora Cole and her team did an amazing job with the Luncheon and Awards Banquet decorations. Connie Sanders, Val Clem, Jean McCasey, Lynette Collins, and their team did a great job hosting our suite parties and we didn't even get shut down!  And, we had beer and wine thanks to Tom Bundgard and Gene Fulkerson. Registration was well organized thanks to Rich Bonnet. Debi Young - great Ski Club Welcome Party! Did we make the World Record? A special thank you goes to Barbara Lee Blase and her helpers for being hostesses for our special guests. That helped me so much!

The DJ was awesome! Thanks Nora! I heard a rumor that Arizona talked to him about next year's Convention (we did give him a nice tip - and he deserved it).

Eric Van Pelt - you are a wonderful photographer and didn't require any direction. Thank you for that! I can't wait to see all the pictures.

We appreciated each and every one of you very much!!  If I missed you, I apologize. Thank you all!!  I will be sending out the results of the Convention Survey and will have financial results by the end of July.

Best Regards,

Jane Wyckoff
FWSA Convention Chairperson
