THE EBOLA OUTBREAK: LOOKING BACK, LESSONS LEARNED.

LOOKING FORWARD, IMPROVING GLOBAL HEALTH SECURITY

The Ebola Outbreak in West Africa sent shockwaves around the world. It laid bare our grossly inadequate response to a global health threat and the terrible state of affairs of health systems in the three most affected countries, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea.

Prof. Larry Gostin is the Faculty Director of the O'Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law at Georgetown University and Director of the World Health Organization Collaborating Center on Public Health Law & Human Rights. He has been an outspoken leader on how we can stop Ebola's progress and be more effective in preventing and responding to outbreaks of deadly diseases. Prof. Gostin is an international expert in global health law.

Dr. Keith Martin is the Executive Director of the Consortium of Universities for Global Health. Dr. Martin was a 6-term Canadian MP who championed global solutions to prevent and respond to disease outbreaks and humanitarian disasters. He will share new mechanisms CUGH has created to address these challenges.

Dr. Peter Piot is unable to join this webinar. A representative from MSF, which has been highly involved in this catastrophe, will give a briefing from their perspective from the field and how the global health international community needs to improve its response to the outbreak.
