New HR Certification & Survey Results

The PHRA continues to be dedicated to offering our members the most current and cutting edge programming available for HR professionals.  We also know how important your opinions are when the industry faces a change in order to continue offering these programs. For that reason, we asked our members to fill out a brief survey regarding their opinions on HR certification offerings, and here is what we found:

  • Of the respondents, 88% do not believe SHRM will launch a new certification that is truly different than what is currently offered by HRCI.
  • 97% of the respondents will continue to support their HRCI designation of an SPHR or PHR.
  • 77% of the respondents that currently hold the HRCI SPHR or PHR designation do plan on completing the online educational module and brief online tutorial to obtain the new SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP)
  • 91% of the respondents plan on maintaining their HRCI designation and the new SHRM designation.
  • 54.5% of non certified survey respondents stated they plan on obtaining the new SHRM designation.
  • 68% of the survey respondents that are planning to take the HRCI certification exam stated the new certification will not affect their decision.

As always, please follow the links below from HRCI and SHRM regarding SHRM's announcement of a new HR certification.
