Dear ,

Hi everyone,

Here's the latest updates with mission. We have news on 6 items (Navajo, University, Philippines, Faith Promise, National Disaster Service, Fr. David) to review and a special opportunity. See them below.

Bruce Carlson

Missions Coordinator

Navajo

The Navajo mission team is leaving on June 6 th for a two week construction mission in the Navajo Nation. We fly into Albuquerque and drive to Chinle, AZ. The team will be based at Our Lady of Fatima in Chinle. We have worked out of this parish for many years. There is no shortage of work so we anticipate returning for a long time. We have developed a strong relationship with the Navajo people. We share our time and spirit with these people and they return the gift. There are 20 team members going. Please hold the team in your prayers.

Bruce Carlson

Missions Coordinator

University goes to Bolivia

It's really a great group of people ready to have a very thoughtful experience of doing meaningful work.  Visit dioceseofjoliet.org/umbolivia to learn a little more and to support the mission.

Kevin O'Donnell

Philippines

The Philippines mission ended last February. Guess what, we're starting it again. We are locking in seats on Cathay Pacific for the international leg of the flights. We have a super deal on the seats. For the coming year 2016 we have some new ideas and plans to put in place. To hear more about our plans, come to the Information Meeting on July 9 th at 7:00pm at the Blanchette Catholic Center. We expect to have 40 or more people on the mission. The typhoons that have hit the Borongan area where we go have left damage that will take many years to repair and recover from. Please consider coming with us. We leave on
January 29th and return to O'Hare on February 13th.

Faith Promise Dinner

Our Faith Promise Dinner is fast approaching. Please put November 6th on your Calendar. This is your opportunity to help missions continue to reach out and touch people in need at our mission partners sites. Please help pass the word to everyone you know. It's a night of storytelling. Stories of how mission has touch lives. Hear about the building project at Tomas home. Curious about what happens at the hospitals while we're on mission, stop by the Faith Promise Dinner. Do you know what a water women is? Come to the Faith Promise Dinner and find out. You may be one. Which University team has the biggest team? Then you'll know if you come to the Faith Promise Dinner.

National Disaster Service

The National Disaster Service team just returned from Pilger, Nebraska. Last years tornados wiped out the town of Pilger, Nebraska. Pilger is a small town of 380 people. Almost every building in town was destroyed along with 16 grain elevators. The people of Pilger were very grateful for the people coming to help rebuild their town. The mission team of 6 worked on 4 homes during the week of April 26 th through May 1 st. Because of the work to be done we are planning to send other team to work in the fall. Watch for updates as we get closer to September.

Fr. David Dillon

And it is with great pleasure that we announce the 50th Anniversary of the Ordination to the Priesthood of our very own Fr. David Dillon, O Carm. Fr. David has been with us on missions to Kenya and the Philippines. Fr. David will be celebrating Mass on May 30 th at 5:00pm at St. Matthew (1555 Glen Ellyn Road, Glendale Heights, IL) and May 31 st at 11:00am at St. Cajetan (2443 W. 112 th Street, Chicago, IL). Receptions follows each Mass. Come out and congratulate Fr. David for his 50 years of ministry.

Medical Supply Area

Hey, everyone we're having a pizza party on June 20 th here at the mission office. We're going to clear space on the tables in the medical supply room for the pizza. Come and celebrate a great year of mission packing. We start at 11:00am and go as long as we have to. And for your piece of pizza, as long as you're here may be you could tell me if the supplies we have on the shelves in the medical supply room are still something we need to have or should I give them to some other group? Come join the fun.

Shirts and Calendar

We are going to place an order for mission polo shirts. To place an order, email [email protected] with your size (S,M,L,XL). The shirts do seem to run large so take that into consideration when placing your order. Our next order date is June 22nd.
