SIGN UP: August Coaching Chats

We invite you to set up a 25-minute "chat" with one of our Career Coaches. You may have a quick question about your resume or want to talk to us about the benefits of a professional mentor. Perhaps you're not sure about your next goal. A short conversation may be all you need to move ahead or it may be the first step in a plan we design together.

These Coaching Chats will take place on Tuesday August 12, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm and you may participate via telephone or Skype. If you are interested in participating, please email [email protected] with your request and preferred appointment time.

COACHING TIP: Leverage your MBA now, in 3 simple steps

1. Let people around you know that you are earning your MBA

  1. Revise your resume. Work through your entire resume and revise it to be MBA-worthy.  Determine if it meets the standards of someone deserving a senior-level position. Does your word choice showcase business acumen?
  2. Update your online profile. Update your profile to let your extended networks know you're earning or have earned an MBA

2. Apply what you're learning as soon as you can, use the language, and find ways to collaborate with management, marketing, operations, and finance.

  1. Applying your MBA knowledge and skills in your current position makes a remarkable difference to future employers, but specifically to your current management.
  2. Try re-evaluating your current corporate responsibilities and determine ways that you can apply what are learning to create additional value for your organization.

3. Grow your Network. There is no better time to grow and expand your network than while you are earning your MBA.

  1. Everyone you meet is a potential connection - classmates, Program and University alumni, current supervisors, co-workers, industry professionals, community leaders, and contacts from association and volunteer groups.
  2. Use your network for information gathering - learn about new and interesting careers, seek advice and insight, gain perspective on trends and opportunities, or become a mentor.

It is important to understand that simply adding "MBA" to your resume or business card will not make things happen for you. Letting people know that you're working towards and MBA, applying what you've learned, and expanding your network are 3 steps that will better position you to take full advantage of your MBA - now and in the future.
