On Friday, March 27th, the Vigon Social was held at the Skylanes Bowling Center.

As a positive change of pace, the latest Vigon Social was held as a charity bowling event, with all proceeds and employee donations going towards the local United Way chapter.

Steve Somers Announced as Finalist for EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award

After making it through several of the preliminary rounds, Vigon President Steve Somers has been announced as a finalist for the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award in Greater Philadelphia.

The rewards program recognizes entrepreneurs who demonstrate excellence and extraordinary success in such areas as innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities. Award winners will be announced at a special gala event in June.

DRT Purextract Partnership

We are delighted to announce the expansion of our strategic partnership with DRT, which will now include the Purextract line of natural extracts. Located in the heart of the Landes forest of Southwestern France, Purextract has been producing plant sterols and polyphenols from maritime pine, grape seed and olive leaf for over 40 years.

Since the partnership's inception in 2009, Vigon has successfully managed the sales, customer service, warehousing, and shipping of DRT flavor and fragrance ingredients to select customers in the North American flavor and fragrance market. The addition of this new line of natural extracts further strengthens Vigon's product portfolio as well as our partnership with DRT.

Steve Somers Jr. Promoted to Vice President

In this newly created position, Steve will be responsible for all of Vigon International's commercial activities. Sales, Marketing, Purchasing, and Customer Service will report directly to him. Steve first joined Vigon in 2010 as a Materials Management Coordinator, was later promoted to Director of Purchasing, and most recently held the title of Director of Commercial Activities.

Vigon has enjoyed great success under Steve's guidance adding new products, new customers, and developing a deeper level of sales penetration which has resulted in an increased win rate and ultimately a higher level of sales. We are looking forward to continued success as well as the new and exciting challenges going forward with this additional responsibility.

Tell us a little bit about your background.

I was born in New York. I studied in a boarding school in Ecuador for 4 years, which is where I learned to read, write and perfect my Spanish. I have a BA in Political Science from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Before Vigon I had smaller jobs ranging from interning for a candidate for Mayor to event planning.

What do you like best about your job?

I love the people I work with! They make my job a lot easier for sure. I also thrive with the opportunity to learn something new every day and being able to meet new people in the process.

Can you share an interesting fact about yourself?

I'm a bit of a nomad. I lived in the city until I was eight, then moved to Ecuador, then back to New York, then the Poconos, then Chicago, then New Jersey, and now back in the Poconos. I'm basically a child of the world!
