Black II Black Empire presents an exclusive lecture by
Tariq Nasheed of Hidden Colours fame on
International Rules of Racism
Sunday 15th March 2015 @ Friends House, Euston
|
Black II Black Empire present a live event with Tariq Nasheed of Hidden Colours Trilogy fame, featuring Nu-Beyond's Dr Lez Henry.
Tariq Nasheed is best known for his critically acclaimed documentary series Hidden Colors 1,2,3 and the forth coming Hidden Colors 4. Despite being a New York Times Best-selling author and his documentaries topping Amazon best seller list, this Los Angeles based family man has not rested on his laurels; instead he has continued to give lectures around the USA Canada and Europe on race, racial awareness, politics, group economics and relationships. The documentaries have been best noted for its balance of making history easy to understand with the heft of scholastic heavy weights such as Dr Umar Johnson, Dr Joy Degruy, Dr Phil Valentine, Dr Booker T Coleman and Dr Sharazad Ali.
Tariq Nasheed will spend one night in London speaking on white supremacy and how the effects of white supremacy impact people globally. It is very easy to become entrenched in local examples of racism but when you take a step back and look at white supremacy from an international vantage point, the rules and patterns start to become very noticeable.
So take the opportunity to learn the international rules of the chess game called racism with Tariq Nasheed on Sunday 15th March 2015 from 6pm to 9pm at Friends House in Euston.
Tickets are 22 but if you use 'BHS' in the coupon code, you will receive a 10% discount.

Reflections Unheard: Black Women in Civil Rights
Monday 9th March 2015
7pm - 9pm
|
| Reflections Unheard: Black Women in Civil Rights (Official Trailer) |
Where do Black women activists fit into the epochal struggles for equality and liberation during the 1960s and 70s? This feature-length documentary unearths the story of Black women's political marginalization-between the male-dominated Black Power movement and second wave feminism, which was largely white and middle class-showing how each failed to recognize Black women's overlapping racial and gender identities.
Archival footage and in-depth interviews with former members of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), SNCC's Black Women's Liberation Committee, the Black Panther Party, Third World Women's Alliance, and the National Black Women's Feminist Organization reveal how Black women mobilised, fought for recognition, and raised awareness of how sexism and class issues affected women of colour within and outside The Black Power Movement and mainstream feminism.
Prominently featured activists include Frances Beale, Angela Davis, Kola Boof, Nikki Giovanni, Rosemari Mealy, Judy Richardson, Gwendolyn Simmons, Deborah Singletary and Eugenia Wiltshire.
